Exceptionally warm and welcoming staff. Nice way to start the day. The place was clean and pleasant. Food was good. Prices reasonable.
Amazing. Brisket skillet for brunch was excellent. Service was also top notch.
Pulled BBQ pork Benny on Corn Bread, and Grilled Cheese with homemade French fries, and a Smokey brown gravy and The Mother of all Bloody Cesars , adored with Bacon and pickled Bacon 🥓. Fabulous combo served by a great bunch of happy people !
Best food I had in long time! The ribs are so delicious! And cornbread was super good!. Fries were well seasoned. Everything was flavourful!. Definitely be back again 😎

We visited Mother Hen on a trip through to Victoria, we were welcomed warmly and impressed with the quick service, I would eat here again!
Not a good place to eat if you're Indigenous. Poor customer service in an unwelcoming environment. Could feel the racism in the room. Also, we were the only colored people in there. Won't be returning and do not recommend!!
My favourite restaurant in ‘Nanaimo.’ The brisket is out of this world, the baking feels like it’s straight from home and the service is always caring. You can really feel the love and effort the chef puts into his food. It’s how I imagined old diners used to be. Never change 💚

Nice little spot to stop on the drive to Victoria. I didn't really like the green stuff on the fries but that's just me. Their house made gravy was really good. I like that they use alfalfa sprouts on the chicken club sandwich! My server was super sweet. Will come back and try the brisket next time!
Good quality food with friendly caring staff. Had the breakfast. Perfect eggs and great hash browns. Way better than local chain restaurants in Duncan. Will go again
Very heavy meat menu, as a vegetarian it’s tough to find anything on the menu. They do have a falafel burger. That would do in a pinch.
How would meat eaters like it if they could only order one thing on the menu,whether they liked that item or not.
I’m sure they would see lots of comments on that.
