Motherhen Barbecue Diner

The food is great and the portions are too. I had the 16oz brisket, and it was almost too much delicious meat for me to finish. The fries were crispy, the slaw was different than any I'd ever had, delicious. The cornbread was tasty too. Everything was good, even the price was good.

I visited an early Sunday morning and ordered a mushroom omelet. The service was prompt, the coffee was good, and I enjoyed the meal! I will return.

An absolute must if you’re visiting & if you live here!!! Their brisket is truly THE BEST IN CANADA. My husband and I reccomend getting either platter 1 or 2 because you have to try everything! The fried chicken, the brisket, the beef ribs, the pulled pork, the corn bread and the fries are all amazing; I can not pick a favourite! 12/10 will come travel back for this restaurant.

There was a bit of a wait on food but it was worth it. The smoked brisket eggs benny was out of this world and the cornbread, my god! Portions are huge so share if you're not a big eater.

Motherhen is such a great little pit stop along the highway! 🚗🍳 I stopped in for breakfast and was really impressed with how friendly and welcoming the staff were. Service was fast, but never rushed — exactly what you want when you’re on the road.
I ordered the eggs benedict with bacon and tomatoes, and it was absolutely delicious. 🥓🍅 The eggs were perfectly cooked, the hollandaise was rich and flavorful, and the toppings made it feel fresh and hearty. The portions were very generous — so much so that I couldn’t even finish it! 🥞✨ Definitely a place where you get great value for your money.
The atmosphere is cozy and relaxed, making it the perfect stop to take a break, stretch your legs, and enjoy some home-style food before continuing on your way. 🌸 Whether you’re a traveler passing through or a local looking for a solid meal, I would highly recommend giving Motherhen a try. It’s the kind of spot that makes you feel glad you pulled off the highway. 💛

Went there for breakfast, and yes it was busy. No problem, sat for almost 30 minutes before the waitress came and took our drink order. What got me angry is we sat and watched them seat and take meal and drink orders from 3 other tables that came in after us. Even made sure to clean tables, give other tables refills and have time to gab with customers. When she finally came over, Instead of just being honest and saying she forgot about us, used the excuse that she was swamped. Luckily the food was good as usual and I’ll probably be back again, but don’t lie be honest!

Food is ok. Service is terrible. Owner had no clue how to run a restaurant. Someone needs to open another one in the area and put this one out of its misery. Seated sat 10 min for drink order then 20 min to get drinks. Food not even close to what was ordered.

We had the waffles and the fried chicken club. Super tasty! I also tried the brisket gravy; super rich and flavourful and stick-to-your-palate (in a great way). Couldn’t finish it all but it sure was tasty! Also, very tasty hand cut fries (I love the little crispy bits).

Our reason for coming in:
We saw two ridiculous reviews and stopped here to spite those reviewers. The vegetarian and the “boy-who-cried-racist” reviewers cannot be serious human beings haha! It would have been worth the stop just for that, but we are thankful we did stop in because this was a fantastic experience! We will be stopping by again and will be telling our friends to check this place out.

And Virginia, who IS Metis and Dene, is a great server; very funny and personable in our experience! I apologize that I didn’t get the name of the hostess who also helped us, but she was also great.

I took my family of four adults and two tiny kiddos to Mother Hen, and despite the challenges of dining out with little ones, they totally nailed it! 🍴👏 The food was ABSOLUTELY fantastic - I'm talking highlight-of-my-life butternut squash soup and WOW! Service was top-notch, making our experience super enjoyable. We hit the place at a busy time and had to wait a bit for a seat, but totally worth it.

Don’t sleep on this place because their BBQ is legit. Got the brisket to share with cornbread and honey butter. Portion is huge, food is delicious, and the service is excellent. A good mom and pop shop that you just want to support, must eat here if you’re in this neck of the woods.

I was super excited and love to support local. the beef ribs were recommended and that's what I ordered. I have traveled lots down south and had the southern experience so was very extra see something local. Unfortunately it wasn't the most fantastic culinary experience but the staff was outstanding! I will definitely give it another try and hopefully have a better experience, anyone can have an offer day. Support local!

Absolutely loved our afternoon meal here. Ate it all before thinking about taking pictures of the food, but let me tell you, the Brisket was exceptional! They have TWO Red Seal chefs on staff!! That should tell you all you need to know! And they offer sales of their home made jars of BBQ sauce and many different jams made in house. We got all of them!!
