Thai Pinto is always a solid place for Thai food in Chemainus. Great to see Art, our server — he’s always super friendly and welcoming. Even though the restaurant was almost full, we never felt like we were waiting on anything. Over the years the menu has expanded, and the new items are just as good as the classics. Every time I visit Chemainus, I make sure to stop in!
We had dinner here last week and found the food amazing: very fresh and flavourful with just the right amount of heat. The only glitch was that our dinners did not come together. I got my dinner in good time but my husband had to wait an additional 15 minutes before his arrived. There was one other table of maybe 10 people, it appeared as though they prepared my dinner but then my husbands got lost in the fray of preparing the dinners for the large table. So that was a bit disappointing...
I’ve been ordering several times from Thai Pinto in Chemainus, and it’s always been a go-to spot whenever I’m craving authentic flavors. My usual favorite is the Som Tam (papaya salad), which I always get at Thai level spiciness. The taste has been consistently good, but I did notice some inconsistency in the serving—before, there used to be a generous portion of papaya, while now it seems more on lettuce, which feels more like a garnish than the main part of the dish.
