The food is absolutely tasteless. In the “Crazy Girl” roll with smoked salmon, there’s almost no salmon at all. Just look at how much imitation crab there is compared to the salmon — the piece is literally only a couple of millimetres thick. Where is SALMON, Maru Sushi? :)
Been going here since 2013 but the last visit will be the last visit. Server very dismissive, kitchen staff won't substitute anything in the dinner boxes, which has never been a problem before. I am guessing new owners. This used to be a hidden gem, definitely not anymore! And now the owner comes on here saying I was asking for free substitutions, the waitress told me there would be a charge( even though what I asked gor was cheaper) and the kitchen flat out refused! I never asked for anything free!And eye rolling your customers when they explain they have shellfish allergy and don't want prawn in the tempura isn't a good look! Imagine lying and trying to make your customers look bad. Like I said....NEVER AGAIN! If you're going to take over a restaurant and then change everything about it...change the name

So happy Maru is open again! We ordered from a different restaurant during the closure and tonight was our first time back since they’ve reopened. Everything was delicious and ready quick. Looking forward to our next order already! :)

Came to try out this place and it was a good experience, our server Angelica(the one with glasses) was incredibly friendly and attentive throughout our meal. I particularly enjoyed our meal which was cooked to perfection and had a delicious flavor. The restaurant had a great atmosphere, and I appreciated the attention to detail in the decor. Overall, I highly recommend Maru sushi restaurant and look forward to visiting again!”

When I entered the restaurant, it wasn’t busy at all—only a few tables were occupied. The server with short hair and glasses (possibly Korean) pointed me to a table near the server station. After returning from the restroom, I found only a menu on the table—no water, no utensils.
I ordered chicken karaage and rice, then later the appetizer tempura. The menu said it came with two shrimp and three vegetable tempura. When I asked another staff member (the cashier) what vegetables were included, she confidently said, “One yam and two sweet.”
When the food came, I still had no utensils or water until I asked. No one came to check on my food at all. The blonde server was only busy cleaning tables, not noticing that my chicken karaage was very dry, and the appetizer tempura had just one yam, one sweet potato, and one pumpkin.
The servers seemed untrained and not knowledgeable about the menu. If you expect good service and well-prepared food, this is not the place to visit.
Was so excited when they were re opening, but nothings the same, seems they lowered their quality.
The rolls are different dynamite used to have 2 shrimp tempura now they do one shrimp and one yam instead.
The Cali rolls are smal with less filling. Spivey chicken don is completely changed, not sure what’s going on here but we won’t be ordering or dining in here anymore, disappointing because it was our favorite sushi spot in town

You have one opportunity to make a first impression and once it's soiled, that's kind of it.
I was greeted at the door from around a wall and not approached or welcomed. That made for an odd first experience. Menus faced away from me, an unwillingness to adjust a salad preference in a dinner box even for a charge. Service was slow. Portion of gomae is very small.
Tofu dinner box came with prawn tempura, even though the box has a veggie symbol beside it - this was corrected, but still made for an uncomfortable situation when expecting it to be veggie.
The food is good, but unfortunately that wasn't enough to bring me back in the future.

Ordered 2 yakisoba, one beef and one chicken. Both with noodles. Chicken yakisoba came with no noodles. Only carrots and bean sprouts. Called and let them know the mistake and the server who answered was dismissive. Very disappointed and upset. Will not go back again.

Was so excited to order after reopening, this was my favourite place. But everything was changed, the rainbow roll has different causes and fish, nothing tastes right, my beef teriyaki was ground beef not strips of beef, the tempura tasted like oil and they raised the price…. I don’t think I’ll be ordering again
