Very good restaurant in town, highly recommended

Tony Z.

The son of the owner, an 11 year young boy, was very helpful and prompted to take the orders, his mom beaming with pride. Food is, as usual, great a takeout for 4 people where everything was there as expected, prices is reasonable, and food tasty.

why is one small tea bag in a pot of water, that tastes like water cost $ 8.00??? yes eight dollars!?

The food itself was tasty and cooked well. The portions were not great. When I order Chinese food, I usually expect a generous portion of protein. I got the combo A and it was about a pound of noodles, half cup of vegetables. 5 small pieces of chicken and 5 small pieces of pork.

I love eating here and enjoy it at least once a week. You cannot go wrong with the standard dishes but my favourites are chow fun, mapo tofu, and ginger beef. I also love the won ton soup and combo b.

Ordered choose your own combo dinners. The vegetable chow mein had literally no vegetables and the owner argued with me and to my horror took me knife and picked through the noodles to show me the vegetables that weren’t there. She finally agreed to bring me some vegetables, then to add insult to injury the chow mein noodles were moldy tasting. My husband had the chicken chow mein that had no vegetables and 4 small pieces of chicken also moldy tasting. Absolutely never going back.

Our 1st time eating there. Got take out. Containers were full. Skimpy on the SS sauce for the chicken balls. Pork was over done so hard to chew. Flavorless

*horrible food, horrible service”

I asked on the phone if they had a shrimp hot and sour soup, and the woman at the counter said, “yes, we have it and it has tofu too.” I took it home only to find out it had chicken in it. Due to our religious restrictions, we do not consume chicken (specifically) from non-halal restaurants. And so, this was a serious concern for us.

When I called back to explain what happened, she told me to come back for a refund and hung up before I could get another word in. When I arrived, she immediately said, “where’s the soup? You want a refund? You gotta bring it back.” Naturally, we had thrown it away after seeing we could not eat it, and her response was, “well, if you want a refund, go pick it up from the garbage.” If she had told me on the phone to bring the soup, I would have. If she had told me in person that she couldn’t refund without the soup due to policy, I would have left it at that. Instead, she told me to go home and pick up the soup from the garbage with an INCREDIBLY condescending tone.

When my husband stepped in and gently pointed out that no one expects chicken in a shrimp dish without being told, she shot back, “this is Chinese food, not Indian food.” We were completely baffled, stunned and hurt by her comments. We've never had such a racist encounter at Cranbrook before. After seeing their Google reviews, it’s clear that bad service is a pattern. I wish I would have read it prior.

Before we left, she said, “don’t ever come back again.” Needless to say, I won’t, and I hope for your peace and for your family’s peace sake, you won’t either. It’s extremely hurtful and disappointing that what should have been a nice little treat for my husband and I turned into an encounter like this.

Horrible service, Racist, and don’t know how to take an order.

If I could give this place zero stars, I absolutely would. My recent visit was nothing short of a nightmare. We asked for a seafood soup option. The lady answering said they had sea food hot and sour soup that has shrimp and tofu. When it arrived it had chicken in it. When we called she talked to the chef and confirmed the soup has chicken in it. She never apologized or showed accountability for taking the wrong order. Her dismissive attitude was infuriating. She said “I don’t want to fight with you, come back and we will refund you” and hung up. When we showed up to the restaurant, she said she needed the soup back. She never asked us to bring it back. We said we threw it out. She actually insisted we need to go back, dig it out of the garbage and bring it back for refund!

To make matters worse, she was being racist. When we said we’ve never heard of anyone putting chicken in a seafood hot and sour soup, she said “this is Chinese food not Indian food”. She then proceeded to say “I hope you never come back again”

The lack of professionalism and basic decency was astounding. I've eaten Chinese food countless times, but I’ve never encountered such terrible service or blatant racism. Save your money and avoid this restaurant at all costs.
