Reservation Required!!!
We were really looking forward to visiting Alderlea Farm and Café for their Friday night pizza. When we arrived, we were kindly informed that reservations are required for both dine-in and take-out due to the kitchen’s limited capacity. Unfortunately, this wasn’t clearly noted on their website or Facebook page, which left us disappointed. We would have happily booked ahead if we had known in advance.

All the meals I have had here have been delicious but I think my favorite is the spinach pizza. When that thing comes to your table it smells divine and then it tastes exactly the way it smells, rich and garlicky and cheesy and the crust somehow is both thin and pillowy soft. Lovely combination of flavor and mouthfeel. With the view of the farmland behind the cafe and the quaint seating, it is a really fun experience. Honestly it's worth driving from Victoria to this place.

Friendliest service, amazing pizzas and beautiful farm setting. What else do you need???

Will come back for the mushroom pizza for sure. The crusts are to die for and I don't usually like pizza crusts!

There's one place we take people when they come to visit us from out of town, and that's the Alderlea Farm and Cafe. John, Katy and their son run the place. They serve incredible pizzas, burgers, salads pretty much using all ingredients from the farm. It's one of the true gems of the Cowichan Valley and, as a community, we're so lucky to have a place like this close by.

Alderlea Farm Café is hands down our favourite restaurant. Where to start?! First off the food is amazing, it’s farm to table, all homemade, organic and fresh. Personal faves are the burger fully loaded (the carmelized onions, mushrooms and kraut put it over the top! The salad is simple yet divine. And I love their margherita pizza but they’re all fabulous. We also love the people that own and run the restaurant. You’ll often see the owner helping out in front of the wood-fired pizza oven or running plates when things are extra busy (they often are, so make a reso). The place itself is rustic and charming set in an old farmhouse with lots of outdoor seating with pastoral views of the surrounding farms and cattle. Kids are also most welcome and have so much fun exploring the outdoor area and neighbouring chickens and cows. If you’re looking for incredible food, great service or a special place to bring your family or friends, this is it!

We had a wonderful two-night stay at Alderlea Farm! After long days of cycling, dinner at the café next door was a real highlight…from the wood-fired pizzas and grass-fed beef burgers to the fresh soups, crisp salads, and that unforgettable chocolate cake with whipped cream. Absolutely delicious, and such a memorable part of our stay! A big thank you to Katy and John for welcoming us so warmly. We feel lucky to have found this gem and can’t wait to return!

After reading your book Katy, “ Katy’s Farmhouse Kitchen”, I can understand your love for the LAND & COOKING! You’re the REAL THING! You & Farmer John care about the LAND, the FOOD you grow & serve. Thank-you for letting us rent your GOLDEN VALLEY house. We are so grateful Joyce Wurtele found you on the AIRBNB site! What a RESTFUL NEST for 3 days & 2 nights. The valley views were stunning. We loved interacting with the cows, chickens & of course MONTY. After our cycling days the 5 of us thoroughly enjoyed the dinners you served. What a FEAST to the EYES! Everything was DELICIOUS! The CHOCOLATE CAKE …..DECADENT! MANY, MANY Thank You’s Katy & John PS…. Joyce has already booked for next year!

What a special place!!! Real
Food and real people. One of my most memorable meals of this year - pizza and burgers and salad all amazing using fresh ingredients. I also appreciated their handcrafted soda and cider selection. Don’t miss - it’s a real gem!

What a fantastic little place! Amazing pizza and burgers, rustic and charming. Great place to go for a family outing or stop for lunch on a bike ride (saw others doing that). Friendly staff and a big wood fire oven for the most amazing pizzas!!

Lovely spot for farm to table. Pizza is excellent. Burgers look great - we all had pizza including gluten free. Prices reasonable $22 - $24 for hand crafted pizza from a wood burning pizza oven. The pie was also delicious. Local beer, cider and soda!

Such a pretty little spot with extra delicious pizzas, thin and crispy and I believe they use all local ingredients.

Greeted nicely by chef as soon as we entered and he let of know his specials, Portobello mushroom burger and beef chili (local beef) very friendly and accommodating.

They don't serve regular cokes but a more natural variety which is ok by me - just letting you know.

Small indoor sitting area, lovely outdoor patio with some tables in the shade. Counter service but they deliver the pizzas to your table.

Overall a great atmosphere in a country setting.
