Great Southern and ocean view in the distance. Only red wine in the area, as red needs more sun and less acidic soil. Family run by a retired cardiologist.

A beautiful spot with tasty wines and excellent service. We didn't try the food, but enjoyed the selection of wines that they had. Picking a quiet time meant we had the place to ourselves, which was a treat.
I tried adding pictures to the review, but don't see a way, so I added them elsewhere.

So I have a VERY bad taste in my mouth after my most recent visit at Averill Creek Vineyard... I don't leave bad reviews, I typically just don't go back, but thought this one really needed to be written. We stopped in there on November 11th at around noon as I wanted to take my dear friend out for a lunch date somewhere "special" as it was her birthday and we hadn't seen each other in a while. I called ahead to see if they served "lunch", and was told yes we do! So we set off and once we arrived we were acknowledged by a grubbily dressed guy behind the counter and were told that someone would be with us shortly. Then a young girl (20's?) made her way to us, asked if we had a reservation (no) and honestly I have never been treated with such rudeness anywhere. We asked to see a menu, this is before we could sit down (strange) and then were told that they only had snack food and no kitchen (lunch?) We asked her to tell us something about the red wines (there were 3) since we were going to be buying a bottle and she replied with "what do you want to know?" Anything? She finally muttered a few words about this one was feminine and this one was masculine - er what? So I gave up on that and asked for a taste (almost EVERY restaurant will do this) and she reluctantly gave us (1) glass to taste it (the Foch). We didn't care for it and I was not up to asking for anything else so we just chose the Pinot (excellent BTW) and ordered as much of the "snacks" that we thought would fill our bellies. We were then led into an empty back room with 4 tables, no music, nothing. She brought us our wine and our food - canned muscles (yep still in the can), canned scallops (also in the can) paper plates, wooden forks, some cheese (that was the only thing we could eat), and potato chips (salt & vinegar?) It became laughable as she was still so snotty and rude to us. The bill ended up being $130, I left her $150 as I figured that no one else would leave her a tip and she's going to need all the extra money she can get. Again, I thought this place was something special as I had been there 2 years ago in the summer with my daughter and had a completely different experience. I don't know wtf is going on there, but do not waste your time until they get that sorted out. Buy their Pinot in a liquor store and save yourself the frustration and utter disappointment.

Beautiful experience at Averill Creek Vineyard. Our group shared the Estate flight and the Reserve flight, both of which were outstanding. The 2018 Sassenach was a favorite. We shared duck pâté, cheese & olives, and the smoked salmon; all were delicious. Their patio is situated in a beautiful garden overlooking the vines. The entire experience was delightful.

Absolutely STUNNING setting. Phenomenal! The location of this winery is spectacular. Rolling hills, beautiful plants and landscaping, and the building are amazing. The service, from our amazing deliver, Katrina, was fantastic. She was very hospitable and took care of us, and was very knowledgeable on the wines we tasted.

We ordered cheese and olives and were shocked by the price— we got a giant portion of brie and a big bowl of olives, as well as a great assortment of crackers. The only thing that could improve this dish is some jam or jelly of some kind.

We were the only people there today, and it was surreal. I 10000% recommend.

Stopped in for an impromptu date/wine tasting with the wife. Had great service from a very knowledgeable bar tender.

The wines were very nice. I especially liked the Rose. We got a delicious(and locally sourced) duck pate for a snack served with crackers and pickles.

The setting is beautiful. We were unable to enjoy the patio due to a late summer downpour but the tasting room has great views of the Cowichan Valley and we enjoyed ourselves nonetheless.

The owner(Andy) even stopped by to chat with us about the wines.

Ended up buying a couple bottles of wine for later.

if there was a chance to give 10 stars, I would do so! This is definitely a place to visit and to remember forever! The hospitality is on the highest level, special thanks to the Owner of the Vineyard for being-l so hospitable and providing an unforgettable personalized experience to all the guests. Vines are all local and have no additives, which makes them completely organic and unique. I highly recommend this place for those whose taste buds missed some burst of flavors and aroma! Your eyes will appreciate the aesthetics of the place with the magnificent view and all these flowers and trees of the garden. Must must must visit!

These wines are alive! Come for a tasting, you won't be disappointed. Owner is on site, garden/building/view is gorgeous. Simple but quality snack offerings. The wine is the star here, unfiltered/sulfate free(ish) range of offerings with eclectic processes and soulful personality. A treat!

Stopped here on the way home from a wine tour in the area. They make wine from local fruit, so if you want to support local business, this is a place to do that. My personal opinion is that the calibre of the experience was lacking in value compared to other options in the region; however, there are plenty of 5-star reviews, especially from dog-lovers, so it could be worth the visit.

Had such a lovely afternoon at Averill Creek! Did a guided tasting with Courtney who was very thorough and informative, answering any and all questions we had. Cherry on top of a wonderful experience was getting to play and pet the two lovely dogs, Dave and Elliot. Would definitely recommend and very reasonably priced :)
