Stopped for lunch, split a vegan pizza and a bowl. Both were delicious and we finished it off with a vegan Nanimo Bar. Lots of options for both food and drinks as well as bakery items all vegan. Was worried about some of the comments here taking about them pushing a right wing conspiracy theory vibe but I didnāt see any of that. Just some nice folks, good food, and chill setting. Went back the next day for another Nanaimo bar as we were passing by.
Cleanest and healthiest food in the island. Delicious also!

Excellent, delicious, healthy good, friendly service
The food was decent, but I was put off by the anti-vaccine and āfreedom convoyā propaganda on display. Had I known about it beforehand, I would have chosen to spend my money elsewhere.
I love everything about this place. I'm not vegan but try to have a healthy dose of plant based. These kind folks make delicious and healthy food. It's the kind of stuff that gets your body to thank you, if you're listening to it.

I am all about local and appreciate the ingredients are organic but organic quinoa and other products is are not hard to come by in todayās world. A vegan bowl can still be filling and have vegan sources of protein outside of chickpeas. Having a comparison of organic ingredient prices vs non organic ingredient prices for Nanaimo bars on the table does not justify the wildly inflated prices for meals. It would be nice to get a decent quantity of food if you are getting charged $15-$20 for vegetables and grains.

BRING YOU WALLETS AND NOT YOUR APPETITE!
Portions are decent but extremely small. Donāt come if you have much of an appetite.
We asked for extra dressing with the salad as it came with hardly any. Told that all they had was frozen?! We thought this was fresh food š¤·āāļø. Then want to charge us for it!
Quesadilla is was the size of a taco⦠as I said, donāt bring your appetite but enjoy a small snack for $25. Or a bottle of juice for $13!
Not recommended!!!

Delicious nutritious and a feast for the eyes, mouth, and soul. The Glow Effect is worth the strange and abrupt turn off the highway, the quality and unique healthy ingredients are only outshined by the stupendous service.
The prices are equivalent to a similar juice shop in Vancouver; unlike on the mainland, here you get what you pay for.

A.k.a. The Glow Effect. Pleasant cafĆ©, all vegan and gluten-free. Hot meals, almost-raw meals, soup, sweets & treats, ice cream, takeaway items. Thereās even poutine! Chili, stew, stir-fry, ābutter chickenā and much more. Special coffees, teas, lattes and, of course, juices! I had a mocktail, the butter chicken on brown rice, a Nanaimo bar and pumpkin spice latte with house-made brazil/walnut mylk. Everything tasted good. Mocktails are served in copper mugs, which keep the drinks cool. Lattes are served in very large mugs. (I've just read some previous reviews and must say that I did not notice - or did not stop to read - any questionable printed material. If they are still displaying off-putting things, it would certainly knock a few stars off my rating.) Updated from previous review on 2025-01-03
