The lamb shank and the duck breast were really tasty, but the tuna with nduja vinaigrette was just exceptional. Loved the food and the ambience.

Had a bad day at work, not knowing what to have for dinner. "Hey google, restaurant near me pls" and Hattie's farm to table popped up. I thought, sure, why not try something new in town. Boom.. blew my mind. They're not kidding when they say everything is fresh. What else can i say, i came out from the place happy. Bad day at work dissapeared on the first bite of what i ordered. Entree, main course, dessert, and of course gin and tonic. Definitely recommend if eating is a love generator for you!

Hattie’s hosted us for our anniversary recently and made it a most memorable occasion. Darby was a consummate maître d' and the service was the most attentive and professional we have ever had. Food and beverages were so overwhelmingly enjoyable that all conversation stopped. The venue is unique and the appropriate level of posh to give justice to the pro chefs.

Highly recommend, meeting Forbes standards in many ways. They recently re-opened due seasonal demand as a result of the recent pandemic. As it was impressed on me by my server they have a new husband wife chef combination in the kitchen.I can see without a doubt they are on the right track. Our tea/main courses were all served on fine bone China, with very nice cutlery, our 1st course was served on beautiful local earthenware. The little things really do show in this place, it is quite an excellent experience. For food I enjoyed the Sweetbreads, and the duck main.I have had both these dishes in many contexts throughout my dining experiences. These two were both expertly prepared. The sweetbreads were phenomenal and did not go down without similar remarks shared between dining partners. My duck was unapologetically French, with their own twist (as one must) and I put it up with the best on my list.Their wine list is full and looks thoroughly comprehensive and I am sure a pairing would do wonderfully with their cuisine, but as we were driving we could not partake.Included in my photos are the Sweetbreads, Pork Belly(I did not have this) and the Duck.I do not have photos of the room, but the character nature of this home/restaurant design is a beautiful conveyance of the philosophy they seem to be imparting.I have also included photos of the bathroom because the care of their atmosphere was amplified in here, and if Forbes ever comes to do their survey it will shine as another highlight.

Had a wonderful meal at Hattie's tonight - salmon, gnocci, roasted brussle sprouts and sweet potatoes. Hubby had ribs and bbq pork belly. It was all very tasty. We shared the honey cake with apples, sour cream ice cream and crumble. Really, everything was awesome but rather pricey: two smallish entries, one shared dessert and a bottle of the least expensive wine - $140 plus tip. It would have been enough if there had been bread served beforehand. The restaurant is spotlessly kept and dining is spread out through several rooms so we felt somewhat ok as far as social distancing from other patrons.I wasn't totally comfortable with the server's decision to wear a clear plastic shield which rested on her chin pointing upward and which barely reached her nose in lieu of a proper mask.In summary, the food was amazing but pricey.

My wife and I chose to have our 20th anniversary dinner at Hattie’s Farm to Table restaurant in Duncan last night. With Covid-19 cases currently rising on Vancouver Island and restrictions being tightened in other areas of B.C., we were aware that this might be our last dine-in restaurant meal for a while as we are both over 65. For that reason, we chose to make reservations at 5:30 so as to be finished our meals and ready to leave before the restaurant filled up with other diners. We were greeted warmly by the owner, Andrea Hudson, and offered a cozy candle-lit table for two in the lounge. The decor in this converted heritage house is charming, filled with interesting details and the work of local artists on the walls.Service was very attentive and we were soon enjoying the chicken liver parfait appetizer on their home-made bread. We don’t usually have appetizers , but this one was delicious with paired flavors of quince and hazelnuts.I chose the duck breast with roasted pear and wild rice while my wife opted for the osso buco with mushroom risotto. The kitchen was happy to make changes to the elements of my wife’s dinner as she requested. Both dishes were sublime, presenting an artful variety of flavours, colour and textures. We enjoyed the whole experience so much on this special occasion that we couldn’t think of going home until 2 and a half hours had passed. We will be recommending Hattie’s to friends who appreciate top-level fine dining. We rate our experience at Hattie’s 5 stars…excellence at every level.

We tried the 5 course tasting menu and it was absolutely fabulous. We would go back and have it again tomorrow.

Romantic, and elegant ... a hidden gem Just off the main road lies a beautiful home that has been transformed into a restaurant. The service and menu is one of the best on the island. I can’t wait to go back. I would compare it to The Deep Cove Chalet. Fantastic!!!!

Went here for a casual business lunch with a colleague during a conference visit to Victoria. The restaurant is about one hour from Victoria and it is definitely worth the trip. The lunch was fabulous, both the charcuterie board as a starter with excellent homemade sausages and local cheese, as well as the main course which was gnocchi with a beef sauce, rocket salad and parmesan. One of the best gnocchi I have ever had. In summary: Hudson's on First is an excellent small, cozy, local restaurant which you should not miss it you are in the neighborhood......or even a few hours away.

Worth the wait. My wife and I finally got the opportunity to dine at this fantastic restaurant on our most recent trip to Duncan and wow, the menu was interesting with a good selection of locally sourced dishes. The servers were friendly and accommodating, but the best part was when the food passed our lips- delicious, perfectly cooked. We can not wait for our next trip to the area just so we can eat here again.
