In my opinion, the Duncan Tim Hortons franchise should be absolutely ashamed of the way it operates. Numerous local residents—including myself—have watched this location consistently overlook local applicants while relying heavily on foreign workers. The concern isn’t with the workers themselves, but with the conditions reportedly imposed on them.
Several individuals familiar with the situation have told me that many of these workers are placed in rented houses or bed-and-breakfast accommodations with four or more people squeezed into rooms meant for one. I’ve also been told that restrictive curfews and rules—such as “lights out by 10–11 PM” and limited bathroom access—are enforced. To my understanding, the owners are fully aware of these reported conditions.
So not only does this franchise appear uninterested in hiring locals, but the workers they do employ seem to be operating under stressful and unfair circumstances—which absolutely shows in the service. While orders may come out quickly, they’re often wrong, rushed, or delivered by staff who look exhausted and unhappy. And honestly, who could blame them?
To make matters worse, the property is routinely overrun by people openly struggling with addiction, yet the owner refuses to hire security to keep both staff and customers safe. For a business that profits enormously from this community, the lack of basic responsibility is staggering.
This franchise presents itself as a proud local establishment, but from everything I’ve witnessed and heard from others, it feels like profit comes first, workers come last, and the community barely factors in at all.
You would think that the person who owns Laketown Ranch—and profits enormously from the foreign workers he brings in—would ensure decent living and working conditions for them. But based on the reports I’ve heard and the way his other businesses operate, it’s sadly not surprising.
You’d also expect that same owner to show some concern for the well-being of patrons and staff at his multiple Tim Hortons locations. Yet the pattern seems consistent: a concerning lack of care toward worker safety, customer safety, and basic community responsibility.
So no, it doesn’t shock me anymore. Not when the example he sets is one where profit clearly outweighs people.
And honestly, this is exactly why, even in a financial crisis, we'd all rather go to Starbucks.

Usually I’m not the type to leave reviews as I often don’t get the best service at Tim Hortons. But, this Tim Hortons was fast, efficient, and had no issues with my order that isn’t the most common to be ordered. They were respectful, kind, and happy. It was such a pleasant experience I had to leave a review!

I have had issues twice now with this location. Issue 1: I went into the store and stood in line. There was a lady helping the customer in front of me. When she finished helping that customer she walked into the back. After a couple minutes she pokes her head out. Sees the line up of about 5 or 6 people and then leaves to the back of the store again. Other people working the drive thru said nothing. No greeting and after waiting for 5 minutes I left the store.
Issue 2: I went through the drive thru today. I ordered a large chilli combo with a donut and a bottle of coke and 12 assorted muffins. The lady taking my order cut me off while ordering and messed up what I ordered. When then handed me my drink a bottle of water not a coke. I mentioned that it should've been a coke. The lady just looked at me and I finally said was I charged for the water not the coke she said yes and I left.
Over all the service needs a big improvement and maybe reading back the order to the customer to insure accuracy. I am frustrated enough that I will not be going back to this location anymore.

I had ordered 3 bacon sandwiches on biscuits that all came so stale and hard we could not eat them. Ordered 2 xl french vanillas and paid extra for espresso in both. The cups were barely 3/4 full and definitely didnt have the espresso in them I paid for. They also parked me at 645am, with nobody else in the drive-thru, and still served this mess. They also gave me back the incorrect change. I wont waste my money and time here again.

Thre were flies constantly flying onto the donuts, fruit Flys littering the store to the point I can't eat my food inside or ill end up eating Flys at the same time. The service took way to long, I'm on a very timed break, I cannot afford spending it at a register with nobody helping me only for when they actually ask what I want for them to not have it in stock.

One of the workers yelled at me because I didn't know how to open the bathroom door? Turns out she had to buzz the door open, but I couldn't understand her because of the accent.
It would be nice to have a sign that notifies customers to ask an employee to be buzzed into the bathroom.
It was a very awkward experience. Probably won't be coming here again.

i asked for a medium iced chai but got this much instead. if you ask for no ice they only give you equivalent to small size and the person handing out in the drive thru seems unhappy and annoyed

Cashier was slow and very rude. It took over 20 minutes for her to take our order. Food order was wrong. Terrible attitude. Had to get manager, for her to take our order. In total with ordering and getting food, about 45 minutes. Said they were busy, they were not. Will never go to that tims again, have to think twice before going to another Tims, period.
