Great service.I was unhappy about a takeout,called in and spoke with Kylie.She was wonderful apologizing about the meal and offered me the same takeout that night with no charge .Happily accepted and it was delicious as it has always been in the past. Disappointing to say the least. We went to FBI to enjoy Fanny Bay Oysters in Fanny Bay, expecting care, freshness, and pride in local ingredients — unfortunately, none of that came through.
The oysters arrived within minutes, which raised concern that they’d been pre-shucked. They were dry, full of shell fragments, and completely lacking their natural liquor. The garnish of curly parsley was mostly stems, and the “mignonette” was little more than roughly chopped pickled onion — not an actual mignonette.
The fried oysters were heavily breaded and dense, absorbing so much batter that they turned cakey. They weren’t seasoned and, despite being listed on the menu, no tartar sauce accompanied them. Even small details were overlooked: the lemon wedges were full of seeds, the Tabasco bottle turned out to be buffalo hot sauce, and the oysters were haphazardly piled on a cramped tray.
Menus were old, stained, and crumbling — not what you’d expect from a restaurant representing local seafood. When we politely expressed that the food wasn’t up to standard, staff chose to gossip about it behind the bar instead of addressing it with professionalism.
For a place that carries the name “Fanny Bay,” I truly hope they take a closer look at integrity, attention to detail, and genuine customer service. These are the small things that build — or break — trust with guests.

I really wanted to like this place based on the previous good reviews and location, but unfortunately, I just couldn't. The fish burger was crazy overcooked with dry ends (and way too much batter), the oysters were terrible (with an odd filling that really didnt work) and the garlic bread was soggy. All served in a cute but fly-infested little pub. In saying that, the manager/waitress was lovely and the lager on tap was nice. Each to their own, I guess!

Haven't been to FBI in 25 years & will never go back ! Worst service & sadly worst server we have ever had ..lady was pleasant but very completely unaware of her slow pace & barely checked on us at all ..kept hearing kitchen ring bell 🛎️ that food was up but food left on pass to get cold time & time again .. Arrived at 2pm & the place was very quiet. 10 mins to get server to take drink order ( 1 draft & 1 water ), 15 mins later she returned with drinks . Lots of staff on hand but some in back room just texting on phones (in tee-shirt /merchandise back room) not paying much attention.. Another 20mins to get the appetizer which was a cup of soup & nearly 55 mins to get 1pc fish & chips X 2 servings. Fish mushy , cold , and it was mostly batter ! , Prices crazy high ,-$11 for a small cup of chowder. BRU-TAL! Stay away and spend your money elsewhere at places that actually care about good service ..the entire staff need to learn the art of serving ..
