Honestly a very cute place!I'll never go back, but if forced to go back, I would NOT SIT IN THE ATRIUM for a few reasons.I was seated outside in the atrium area at 5:30pm on a very windy chilly night.First gripe was sitting in the ATRIUM:The reality is that if you are in the atrium, you should express that you have concerns about being seated there and then inquire about what their policy is to ensure the "coziness" of the atrium as they represent.During my dining experience, one of the groups in the ATRIUM had a person in their party of seven decided to turn off the space heaters in the atrium, without the consideration of asking other diners. Their group was broken into two tables, one of adults comprising 2 parent couples, and the other table was their three young adult children. It was pretty obvious that the father got tired of listening to his children whinging so decided to do his own thing and turn off the space heaters. The frustrating part was that the Birchwood staff didn't inquire about the other patron's well being. This might not have been so noticeable, but the staff made every effort to shut the door separating the atrium from the indoor dining simply accentuating that the indoor guests didn't appreciate the coldness blowing on them either.Second gripe: the plating of the FOOD in the Atrium. The fondue was presented in a slightly large ceramic creme brûlée dish. Unfortunately when sitting in the atrium without the warmth of space heaters, the cheese fondue coagulates into a non-warm sludge, thus losing all appeal. The accompanying apricot chutney was lovely - as it's not supposed to be warm.I would suggest is that they make the fondue portion larger and present it in a fondue pot so that you can actually have it as a dinner, and plate it on something with some significant warmth when serving the dish in the ATRIUM.The lamb shank was great, but they plated it on only slightly warmed china, which is probably perfect when sitting indoors, but similar to the issue as above, the china gets cold rapidly, and now you are force to eat the lamb quickly because it too loses it's warmth as does the gravy and vegetables.I would suggest plating the lamb on a warm cast iron oval dish when dining in the ATRIUM.Being forced to eat quickly is not really fun when you are at a mouth-brothel. Oh well, Food is to be enjoyed, not rushed, not to be only appealing on delivery but during the entire experience.I learned once again that a restaurant which openly articulates a 90-minute table maximum is simply not worth the experience. Why be rushed when your conversation is delightful? Why be rushed when the food is simply too good to rush through? Why not enjoy every bite as opposed to simply stuffing your mouth. Never again!Hoping both you and the Birchwood enjoy the review and make the appropriate choices.

Horrible experience. Asked for our meal to come after the appetizer, they came at the same time. After mentioning the issue to the manager she berated us and blamed the issue on us. Will absolutely never be back. Can’t believe this is the way they treat

This place is super cute and the warm energy was a highlight of a recent trip to Invermere. Our server, Chantelle, was authentically friendly without being overbearing. We made a reservation at the last minute and very glad we did. Food was very good- I had a fondue and the best kale salad I have ever had!

From bison perogies to lobster mac and cheese. Beautifully cooked beef tenderloin and well crafted cocktails. Make reservations as this is a popular spot for very good reasons.

Birchwood offers upscale cuisine in a relaxed setting. Noise was low, making conversations quite easy. Vegetarian options were wonderfully prepared and flavorful. Lamb shank was properly prepared and deliciously tender. The food quality and presentation was evidence that Birchwood cares about their patrons. Most patrons were dressed quite casual, I think Birchwwod deserves "smart casual" attire.

We had an amazing dinner here last Saturday night. The atmosphere is great, servers are quick and attentive and the food is to die for. I had the pork chop (which I would never normally order) the chop was cooked to perfection and served with a great sour cherry bbq sauce. My wife had beef two ways. A steak and a slow cooked cut and both were mouth watering. Highly recommend!!

We were in town during our 27th wedding anniversary and my husband found this restaurant and it looked like a good place to celebrate. He didn't realize you had to make reservations so we couldn't get in until 8:15 which was a little late for our son but it looked good. We arrived a little early along with another couple who also came early and the waitress/hostess was manic and the other couple that came after us we're locals and didn't have a reservation and were given a table on the patio right away. We got our table and the atmosphere is quaint so we were looking for a nice meal. Our waitress never told us about the specials and took forever to take our drink order then our food order and the other 2 couples were served their meals long before we even got ours even though we were seated first and our son's meal took 45 min for them to bring out so we had ask about it and she said they waiting to bring it out with ours which we asked for it right away since he was starving. His chicken was so dry he couldn't eat it so we shared our meal with him.Overall our meals were really good as we had 2 serving of oysters and the lemongrass bowl and steak with lobster Mac & cheese. Son's meal awful. The service took away from the good food (ours) and turned our night out for anniversary not very special. The staff seemed overwhelmed and not able to keep up. Its a shame as the food is what makes this place a gem.

Celebrated our 20th anniversary at the Birchwood. Enjoyed delicious drinks - guava tequila sunrise and a local IPA. The menu was clearly marked with veggie and gluten-free options. We both chose the stuffed poblano peppers, although I was tempted to try the noodle bowl, cheese fondue and falafel. Peppers were scrumptious and service was top notch!
