Love this place. Food is aways fresh and hot, veges done just right - al dente, and the place has a cute 50’s diner theme. Love their noodle and wonton soups on cold days. It’s been my go to place in Masset.

Nice little restaurant in downtown Masset. Food was good and the owner/waiter/cook was great! There was a group of young kids and teenagers (that I’m assuming were family of the owner) in the corner creating quite a bit of noise during our meal but other than that we had no complaints. We had the dinner for 2 people at $49. It was the perfect portion size and everything came out fresh and hot, but also super quick! Definitely worth checking out if you’re in the area!

Very authentic and tasty food. There is a good variety and you can tell it's made to order in the kitchen. Cute diner deco too.

Dietary restrictions: There is vermicelli noodle options if you are gluten sensitive.

Hands down my favourite Chinese Restaurant on Haida Gwaii. The atmosphere is very quite unique as it is an old 50s/60s diner that has been converted into a Chinese establishment. The old fashioned tables and booths make the whole atmosphere so wild and unique!!
The food is full of flavour and very fresh tasting. My daughter, who is visiting from Alberta tried it for the first time today and her words says it is the best Chinese food she has ever had. Even better than the hometown food she’s loved her whole life.

Wife & I rolled into Masset a bit late and were thankful this place was still open. Noone was in the restaurant but a friendly guy walked in immediately to welcome us & asked us to sit anywhere we wanted.
He suggested we try the 'Dinner for 2" and it came out hot & tasted great.
Jackie is the owner & it's a 1 man show. He does it all!
He came out later and we had a great chat with him about life on the island.
Super nice guy working hard to make a go of it. Definitely worth checking out

Don't call ahead, just show up. As mentioned by other reviewers, the owner at Red Rooster Kitchen is a one-man show. It took a beat to get seated, but once settled we were served promptly and our food came out in good time. The food itself was delicious and servings were generous (we had plenty leftovers for breakfast the next day). Highly recommend (and likely your only option on a Monday night in the off-season!)

One man show (Host, Server, Cook) so you need patience and a bit of luck. Food was very good - crisp vegetables and a nice fried rice.

This is a must stop if you’re in town. The restaurant is an old 60s style diner! The food is delicious and the service is friendly and fast. The portions are a good size considering you’re in Haida Gwaii.
