Don't call ahead, just show up. As mentioned by other reviewers, the owner at Red Rooster Kitchen is a one-man show. It took a beat to get seated, but once settled we were served promptly and our food came out in good time. The food itself was delicious and servings were generous (we had plenty leftovers for breakfast the next day). Highly recommend (and likely your only option on a Monday night in the off-season!)

One man show (Host, Server, Cook) so you need patience and a bit of luck. Food was very good - crisp vegetables and a nice fried rice.

This is a must stop if you’re in town. The restaurant is an old 60s style diner! The food is delicious and the service is friendly and fast. The portions are a good size considering you’re in Haida Gwaii.

Six salmon fishing friends had dinner at Red Rooster in Masset July 24th and were very impressed! We made a reservation, but there were only four others there. We agreed this was one of the best Chinese food dinners we have had. The restaurant is small and simple with great food, great service, and reasonable prices.
Ordered dinner for 4. Came with spring rolls, sweet /sour breaded shrimp, chicken chow mein, deluxe fried rice, breaded garlic pork, chicken & veg in black bean sauce. Everything was hot, fresh and delicious. Plenty of food for four. Highly recommend.
Jacky is awesome!
