Greasy spoon like you don't find much these days. Food was great. Service was chill yet quick. The restaurant is huge, comfy, and old school in all the right ways. Awesome bang for your buck.

We love Alice's Restaurant. It's not fancy, like an old diner, but Mischa is a wonderful host. The food is good, filling, not greasy, like homemade with generous portions - we always get breakfast no matter what time of day. My hubby loves the blueberry pancakes (stick with 2 pancakes, 3 is too much) while I enjoy the ham & cheese omelet with cubed hash browns (they're the BEST!). Good value. Good people.

Been going to Alice's for decades. I go less often since we moved out of town but every time we are in Nanaimo we make a stop in for amazing food and that nostalgic vibe that you can only get at Alice's.

Terrible. Smells inside, dark (lights not turned on), dirty carpeted, needs a re-vamp. Service was poor. Male server seemed like he hated his job. I asked for some peppers, onion and tomato in eggs instead of the meat portion-waiter said no. The hashbrowns tasted like old oil and scrambled eggs came as overdone pellets. Overall, horrible experience. The reviews that say this place is a gem mystify me -maybe in its hey day when Alice was alive...but not anymore. Never again.

Overpriced. Diners like this are special if they are affordable. You can easily go to a more trendy spot and get better food and a better atmosphere. Such a let down.

Great little breakfast dive bar. A place you wouldn't expect has great food and service. Don't overlook this one from how it is on the outside. Service was awesome and food was amazing. Looks like they did some work on the inside as well. Love it

It is a typical OLD style restaurant. Emphasizing the OLD. The decor is not only outdated but many booths have stains etc. The service was generally OK. I watched the person who i believe is the owner serve others with the enthusiasm of a knat. He clearly has no personality and should really stay in the back of the house. Somebody needs to teach him the isnthe hospitality industry to which he clearly has none.

Prices are definitely premium for average at best, although ok breakfast. Over $30 for an omlette and hash browns is crazy. Itoo agree with many other comments that the hash browns should be included the higher prices being charged. What is however outrageous is not the gouging for the hash browns. He adds $3 dollars for $1 of hash browns. This is bad enough but what is implied as a upcharge to poutine hashbrowns for what the menu says $6 is in fact and additional $6 with a glob of what tasted like instant hollandaise sauce added to the already $3 upcharge for a total of $9 addon upcharge. I dont get how these places stay open. I get why thier reviews are what they are. I would suggest anyone who wants to pay less for more go across the street to Ricky's Grill. At least they are up front and don't addon for what everyone else includes. Nuts in my opinion.
