When we lived in south Nanaimo we use to go to the Bold Knight often. Hadn’t been there in some time in the last two weeks we’ve been there twice. Both times were extremely enjoyable and we are fortunate enough to have the same waitress on two occasions. Tania was fantastic both times. Food was as good as it gets. We will definitely be coming back more often. We highly recommend Bold Knight. It you want a great waitress ask for Tannis.

Best meal we ever have had in Nanaimo, great food, great service and we even got to sit in the booth with the armor plaque mounted over our area! Food was prefect temps. and arrived fast.

I had lobster ravioli and it was amazing. My wife had steak and oysters, she loved it and the steak was delicious, I finished it.

Please prepare fresh baked potato not brown or black spots on skin especially when your customers pay 35+ for meals and 💁‍♀️

This was a celebration dinner for our daughter's birthday and she felt special. We were welcomed and seated quickly. We did make reservations and appreciated the reviews that encouraged this. The restaurant was homey and clean.

TL/DR: Food was absolutely horrific, wait times for reso only restaurant was horrific, will never be going there again, and you should really save your money.

Went last year—it was great! So, I decided this year I will bring my friends and family there for my birthday dinner. I wanted a great steak after all!

It’s reservation only, so they know exactly how many people they are going to be serving each night. You’d expect them to be prepared, right? All their dinners come with bread and salad as a starter, you’d think they’d have that somewhat prepared for when the RESERVED customers show up at their RESERVED time. But, NO! We show up on-time, two people showed up about 5mins after the set time. We’re all seated for a good 10mins—finally our server comes to greet us and grab drink orders. Three (out of eight) people order their drinks (Gingerale, 6oz Glass of wine, Glass of beer), the rest of us aren’t sure so our server says “I’ll give you guys a few more minutes to decide”… *TWENTY-FIVE MINUTES LATER*, our server brings the three people their VERY easy and normal drinks, asks the rest of us what we would like to drink, at that point we’re just ready to order food. So, we place our orders. Cool. All our dinners come with a starter salad and bread—that’s SUPER simple and SUPER easy, right!? Apparently not! THIRTY MINUTES we wait for 1g of pre-packaged salad mix with one cucumber and tomato slice on a plate with 3oz of salad dressing, the bread was good, but the butter is cold?? Another 30-40 minutes go by, FINALLY our mains come out… Holy moly, it was terrible. I got the 10oz ribeye, the cut was lopsided, there was NO seasoning. My partner and friend got the “Bold Knight Challenge”, which claims to have grilled chicken (it was wet, rubbery, horrible), the ribs were *DRY* with no seasoning, no sauce, both the chicken and ribs were most likely frozen and then reheated. Everyone’s meal was TERRIBLE. Do you like sides with your dinner? How about a single slice of unseasoned, boiled, zucchini and carrot cut into strips to make it look like more :D?? OH, how about a tiny pinch of pre-packaged coleslaw mix with a pea sized amount of dressing?? The baked potato was the best part of everyone’s meal, it could be cooked a lil longer but that I’m not too concerned about. Everything was extremely under seasoned, taste and felt like it had been premade, frozen, then reheated. The server was friendly, but the service was SO SLOW. We were there for 2.5 hours! Not because we’re chatting, it was because of us waiting SO LONG for things the entire restaurant should have been prepared for. If they are so unprepared for service when they are reso only, open only 4.5hrs, they really need to start asking people to reserve AND order their food BEFORE they get there. Then maybe the food would show up at a more reasonable time. OH ALSO—three of our cutlery sets were greasy and had chunks of food on them, I kinda think that’s why they have such poor lighting in there, and my friends beer glass was greasy/sticky and his beer tasted like soap :D. I am extremely disappointed and embarrassed, I will never be returning and neither will the seven other people (or any of their family/friends) who had to pay exorbitant prices for hospital level food. I was fine with paying the price for quality, but I guess I should have understood that most local restaurants in Nanaimo are raising their prices and lowering their standards and quality. All they care about is money.

SAVE YOUR MONEY, MONTANAS IS 900000000x BETTER THAN THIS, which says A LOT!

The food and service were absolutely amazing. I don’t usually like lobster but I tried my sister’s and will definitely be going back to order it. They check on you regularly. All the girls have been there for years and are very kind.

One negative thing I’ll say is the bathrooms were pretty gross. Very dusty and the stalls themselves look like they haven’t been cleaned in years.

First time visiting this hidden gem in Nanaimo , I’ve got to say it was so worth the wait. The service , food and atmosphere was amazing, we will definitely go back.

We heard from several people that this restaurant is worth a visit because the food is delicious, so we joined 2 other couples last Sunday to celebrate a milestone Birthday.
My husband ordered a Beef souvlaki with a potato instead of rice, I ordered prawns souvlaki with rice.
The green salad that came before our meals was super tiny, My husband meal was great because he had a potato, mine was great, but the rice that came with the meal was cold and tasteless.Also, for everyone else at the table that ordered rice, they agreed that it was cold and tasteless as well.
We informed the waitress that suggested to heat up the whole meal in the microwave! We disagreed and asked if she could bring us another fresh serving of rice..while we eating the rest of the meal...so came back after few minutes with more rice that was uncooked, tasteless and cold!lShe said maybe it didn't cook properly in the microwave!!!!!Really???!?
We were speechless as we never had such a bland rice, that is an important part of a meal, plus I never had a microwaved rice at a fancy restaurant!..or at least I was never told before!!!
They gave 3 free desserts to be shared by each couple as a consolation, which we really appreciated it..
But for the price we were charged we felt that the meal fell far short of our expectations, too bad because the restaurant was very charming.

We got to sit at the knights’s table. The steaks were perfectly cooked and our service was relaxed and professional. Loved the huge dollop of sour cream on our potatos 😂. The four of us had a great night and had leftovers for lunch. We will be back.
