I don't want to be one of those people who compares the Lower Mainland restaurants to the Island, but this is simply not real chinese food. The lack of flavours is insulting to authentic Chinese food. Driftwood should never expand to the Lower Mainland , especially Richmond, because if you do you'll be out of business within a week. À

RUDE staff, ended up leaving before we could even find a table after the manager (?) decided to raise her voice at our 4yo who had already sat down at a table we apparently weren't able to sit at. Won't be attempting to go back 🙄
The only good thing about this place is the decor.
Food is blander than bland and chow mein was dryer than dog food.
If you think salt is too spicy, then this is the place for you.
If you have a more sophisticated and a diverse taste for food this isn’t the place for you.
I don’t know why the cook is scared to use salt and pepper let alone spices.
Such a waste of money.

I’d like to share my experience with Driftwood. We ordered our food through Skip The Dishes, we unfortunately received the wrong order. I called the restaurant right away explaining the situation. The young fellow at the front was very helpful and exceeded our expectations on how this got resolved. This happened on Wednesday evening at 6:45pm Oct. 15th. The young fellow had apologized and admitted to his mistake, I believe that shows a lot in someone and a business. I respect the honesty behind our experience.

Great food and service!
We came with a group of 50. The buffet had a great variety of dishes — flavorful but not too salty. Staff were friendly and attentive, and food trays were replenished quickly. Plenty of seating and excellent selection overall! Will definitely come again

Nanaimo Bar is awesome!Really nice spot! The place is super spacious, clean, and there’s tons of parking. Great location too — right near McDonald’s and the movie theatre, super convenient.
We came in pretty late, almost closing time, but our waitress was super friendly and didn’t rush us at all. She told us to just relax and enjoy our food. Such a nice experience — we’ll definitely be back!

So I’m going to take the blame for this one.. I should have looked at the reviews a bit closer…the food had no flavour. The egg foo young was oddly watery(the sauce was in the side) ginger beef was really chewy.. over all very disappointed. I even considered calling but then seeing how far back the reviews go with people saying the same thing? What’s the point, they obviously haven’t changed. Save your money and goto the food court instead!
Amazing food! Love to come here.
We came to Driftwood in Nanaimo for lunch buffet without high expectations. We had one dinner buffet at another Chinese restaurant in Nanaimo and it was not a good experience, soggy food and flavorless. However, the food at Driftwood was much better, although the number of dishes was not as many as bigger restaurants. I prefer quality more to quantity. The wonton was delicious although the soup was a bit of salty. The dumplings (锅贴)were favorable with vegetables. The fried chicken wings were crispy and delicious. The prawns were fresh and tender. I really liked the fluffy steam buns with different fillings. The sesame sticky rice ball (麻球) was well made, crispy outside and chewy inside. I haven’t tried their fried rice and noodles yet. For $20 we had so many good, it was well worth it.

Great Chinese buffet
Not as good food wise nor atmosphere as the Parksville one.
Everything was good, but the only thing that gave me a 3 star review was the people.these girls were chatting like they were talking to everyone in the restaurant.
Like, please keep it down.
I wish there was there was a star for 0❗️i had a peice of metal in my chow mein for starters. everyone is staring at you. Workers, People. im not a shy eater, but privacy is key. Everything was so soggy and tasteless, spring rolls were wet, no crunch to the vegetables. Pork was mushy, prawns had poo still in them, chicken wings werent fully cooked, wonton soup tasted funky. we went here because montanas had a 1hr wait. For 3 people we spent 100$ when you cant even eat alot anyway, it just turns you off some of the food to not even wanna eat more. I DO NOT RECOMMEND LIKE IM BEING FR❗️❗️❗️❗️
Wow. Son drove there to get order and they said no order under name given. I get a call say they have order. My son comes home so I call them and say that you’ll need to discount me for having to drive there again. No one could figure out what to do. They call back 10 min later and ask if I’m picking up order. No discount. I say I’ll go some where else and they were fine with that. Place is going downhill. Won’t be back.
