Eating Edo for 30 years, but never again. Paid for double meat teriyaki chicken and there’s almost no veggies and not much meat. $20 for a bowl of rice with teriyaki sauce.Tempura shrimp doesn’t come with dipping sauce.Too bad, I use to love Edo, won’t be back

I love coming to get food here whenever I'm in Nanaimo or Victoria it's absolutely delicious ? I love the teriyaki beef bowl meal (with rice and two extra sauce) I also tried the Mango Boba for the first time and I have to say I was pleasently surprised about how good it was it wasn't overly sweet and the jellys in it were absolute delicious way better then I was expecting since I'm usually not a big fan of jelly or gelatin but this was amazing ? I applaud the chef ? the staff was amazing and nice ? love this place can't wait to eat here again! Also so far I've been to about 4 of Edo Japan's location two of them being in Nanaimo and one of them in Victoria and Vancouver! Same 10/10 quality in all those places!

The most dried out sushi I've had on the island. The soup was manageable and the chop chop was exactly as expected... But that poor dynamite roll. Guessing food waste management issues is the culprit??

As you enter Edo Japan, a quick and efficient fast take-out restaurant, the tantalizing aroma of sizzling beef and savory sauces instantly whets your appetite. You eagerly approach the counter and order the legendary Beef Sukiyaki Number One, complete with brown rice, extra vegetables, and a generous 14 scoops of mouthwatering teriyaki sauce. Little do you know that this meal will take you on a delightful journey of flavors, textures, and culinary sensations. With your order in hand, you find a cozy spot to dive into your meal. Opening the steaming container, you're greeted by a colorful sight: a vibrant assortment of mixed vegetables and tender fried beef glistening under a glossy teriyaki glaze. The aroma envelops you, causing your mouth to water in anticipation. You carefully select a piece of succulent beef, speared gently with your chopsticks. As you lift it to your mouth, you notice a stray grain of rice clinging to your chopsticks, seemingly defying gravity. It falls back onto the tray, prompting a brief moment of amusement. Undeterred, you proceed, taking a small, anticipatory breath. The first bite is a revelation. The tender beef yields effortlessly to the pressure of your teeth, releasing a burst of savory flavors. The umami-rich teriyaki sauce glides over your taste buds, coating them with its exquisite blend of sweetness and saltiness. The mixture of textures enchants you; the slight crispness of the vegetables balances perfectly with the juicy, melt-in-your-mouth beef. As you savor the first mouthful, the brown rice plays its part, adding a nutty and slightly chewy element to the symphony of flavors. The grains dance on your tongue, harmonizing with the beef and vegetables. A thought flickers across your mind, briefly wondering why that rogue grain of rice seemed so odd moments ago. Now, it feels perfectly at home, contributing to the overall experience. With each subsequent bite, you find yourself captivated by the intricacies of the dish. The balance of sweet and savory notes in the teriyaki sauce is impeccable, leaving you yearning for more. The extra vegetables you requested add a refreshing crunch and a burst of freshness, complementing the richness of the beef. As you delve deeper into your meal, you realize that the generous 14 scoops of teriyaki sauce were a brilliant choice. Each bite is infused with its delectable essence, amplifying the flavors and transforming every mouthful into a symphony of umami goodness. The savory sauce clings to the beef and vegetables, ensuring that no bite goes unnoticed or underappreciated. Occasionally, a morsel slips from your chopsticks, landing gracefully back into the container. Rather than being bothered by the occasional fumble, you embrace the serendipity of it all. Each dropped piece becomes an opportunity to savor the flavors once more, an invitation to enjoy the culinary experience from a different angle. Time seems to stand still as you savor every bite, allowing the amalgamation of tastes, textures, and aromas to envelop your senses. The rich, meaty umami of the beef, the vibrant freshness of the vegetables, the indulgent sweetness of the teriyaki sauce – they all combine to create a feast for your palate. As you reach the end of your meal, a sense of contentment washes over you. Edo Japan has not only satisfied your hunger but has taken you on a journey through Japanese cuisine, offering a glimpse into the artistry and attention to detail that goes into each dish.
