Ate in the restaurant. It was clean and tidy no smell of grease or food cooking smells. Ordered $40 worth of food for both of us to share for lunch and it was lots of food. Forgot to take photos. Started with yam tempura, tuna tataki, dynamite roll and Asparagus/avacado roll. Service was perfect too and they gave us green tea on the house.

Just discovered Gaya Sushi today and let me tell you, it’s a gem!!! Best Sushi’s in Nanaimo!!! Food is fresh, plentiful, tasty. Presentation is on par with the best sushi joints. Also when you order online you get 10%off!!! Staff is great, welcoming and they listened to our special dietary requests. I’m a huge sushi fan and was pleasantly surprised by the quality of the food you get for the money you pay for. 5 out of 5 or 10 out of 10, whichever ways you want to rate a restaurant, we will be back for sure! With the state of the economy I hope they will stay in business for a long time, I’m hooked! We’ve been looking for a long time for a reliable Sushi restaurant in the Nanaimo area, today we found it! Dietary restrictions: My wife doesn’t like raw fish but she loves sushi’s, she usually order chicken and beef Teri rolls but doesn’t like it with teriyaki sauce, so we ordered without sauce. The owner personally called us to make sure it wasn’t a gluten allergy since their marinade includes some gluten ingredients. Great attention to details and the well being of customers, so refreshing to witness.

The owners are Great Cooks and make excellent sushi. I lived in Northern Japan, for a number of years and Gaya Sushi is on par with the best sushi I ate there. Very fresh, portion sizes are great, and service is very friendly.

Made a quick stop in here today on our way to Parksville. It’s great for grab and go, but they have a few small tables inside as well. We had been driving from Victoria most of the day so we ordered a few rolls and sat down. They worker was friendly and our rolls came quickly. They were delicious! We love sushi and it was just as good as if we had gone to a more formal sit down restaurant. I would definitely come back.
