I had a congratulatory cake made for 20 people. Hearthstone did an exemplary job!

The cake was ready on time and securely boxed (it had to travel for 2 hours), arriving in perfect condition. The fresh fruit decoration held beautifully for presentation the next day, and the cake was enjoyed by all.

Hearthstone is now our go-to place for special occasion cakes!

Absolutely the best baked goods and sourdough on the island. Their croissant Amandine tastes exactly like the ones you'd get in France. Their brownies are so rich and delicious that they're often sold out so you need to be quick! Their Nanaimo bars are the best I've ever had especially the peanut butter one! The only downside is that they're closed on Sundays and Mondays so a bit of planning is required to get their delicious creations. Also their bread club is awesome for getting delicious free bread.

My favourite bakery in Nanaimo. Their Peanut Butter Crunch Nanaimo bar is the the best variation in my opinion. They have delicious galettes too. Their cinnamon bun is also delicious. On the smaller side so their selection isn't very big, but what they do make is really good and they switch it up, so there's often something different.

We had to get some Nanaimo bars while in Nanaimo! If you don't know, this is a classic Canadian dessert, and this spot does an amazing job! The bottom layer is chocolate, ghram cracker, coconut and nuts. The middle layer is a buttercream custard, and a layer of chocolate on top. They also do a great feature flavour, it was passionfruit and mango during our visit. The two cost: $12.39. While there is no gettingaround the kick-in-your-teeth sweetness, Hearthstone does a nice job of adding some complexity to the flavour. The quality of the chocolate was amazing! It is worth noting this is a take-out only bakery.
