The pork burrito was amazing.
We stumbled across this gem on the hunt for Mexican food. On Saturdays and Sunday there is an all you can eat taco bar. The meats were especially delicious (everything was great). Would recommend and come again!
We ate here a while ago, lost it, then found it again by accident. So happy :) Great food, ample portions, seems authentic to my non-Mexican self. Not posh and pretentious, just delicious.
By far and away my favorite place in the city with no pity to get AUTHENTIC and QUALITY
Mexican food. I go every time I come home
Great food. Great service. Traditional atmosphere. Came right at close with my friend by accident and they still served us, will come again
Visiting family in Nanaimo, we never miss a chance to pop into Jalapeños. Fresh, delicious food, huge portions, friendly & fast service. Definitely our favorite Mexican restaurant. My son-in-law, who is originally from México, loved the al pastor plate we brought him! Wish you had a location in Vancouver 😋
Fabulous Mexican restaurant. Really authentic family run business. The staff are so friendly. Super convenient. If ordering takeout the food is ready in 5-10 minutes. The menu is great. I would highly recommend the pastor. For a budget option the tostadas are awesome.
Love at first bite ❤️
I was looking for something to eat before a show at the Malaspina theatre and found Jalapeños on Google maps. When I walked in I told the staff that I didn't have much time, and they took my order as soon as I sat down.
I asked how big the tacos are, and got the impression that they were pretty small, like the ones at a nice place in downtown Vancouver or at Earls or something, but I was so so wrong! I had 3: carne asada, carnitas, and fish. The fist looked a bit strange, kind of like fish sticks, so I decided to eat that first (I always save the best for last)... Turns out it was the best fish taco I've ever had! Fresh and tender with lots of veggies and a super tasty aoli-type sauce. There was so much steak in my carne asada that I had to eat some with a fork first! And the pork was moist and SOOO tasty!
Overall a great experience. Granted, I have a weakness for small businesses, and another for Mexican food, so I am definitely biased.
I will be back any time I'm driving up-island. It's a 3 minute drive from the highway, so give it a try for yourself!
It was amazing food over there...
We took some out of town friends there a couple of nights ago. We were a bit nervous as they’ve lived in Mexico, and we’d never been to this place. Happy to say it was delicious and authentic according to our friends.
Restaurantji Recommends
Fantastic food, service, and the entire restaurant is decorated so well! Highly recommend.
Everything I’ve eaten here is so good. Great atmosphere, too! Love the festive decor and music.
What a great little eatery, amazing food. Can't visit Nanaimo without a stop at this place.
Cheese covered burrito with red sauce
Burrito was good and filling but red sauce was like cold tomato soup-weird and not so much fun
Mediocre tacos at best.
Clearly they bought reviews.
