I still think about Kelly’s kitchen even after moving away, their food was just too delicious and their staff were some of the best people I’ve met!

What a find while meeting family in Nanaimo. This busy little spot has a fantastic menu for breakfast and lunch. The offerings are fully complete for whatever you’re looking for. The prices are more than reasonable and senior menu items are available as well. The service staff are unbelievably friendly, fast and efficient. Highly recommended.

I ordered a breakfast sandwich to go as I was in a hurry, specifically requested no hash browns, just the sandwich, including the cheese. Well, there was not a sniff of cheese on it, there was hash browns and I was charged $17.95. Waitress insisted that was the price for just the sandwich. Be careful folks...This was on January 8, 2026. I wish I had looked at the menu and the food before leaving the restaurant.

The senior breakfast sandwich including cheese is listed menu for $13.95
Thanks for your reply. I will come in when I get the opportunity as there is another matter to correct also. I had already waiting 25 minutes for the one sandwich and did not have time to ask for a remake. Besides, waitress insisted the price was right!

I tried out this place because somebody left a really good review for their homemade sausage patties. However, the sausage I had was pre-made and it was bad. The bacon, eggs and hash browns were nice.

Friendliness is high on your entry. Humour while being busy is a must and they have it.

Eggs Benedict was great. Hash browns are seasoned with salt, pepper and paprika.

A conversation is a bit hard because of the people talking and echoes. It's a great side effect of a busy restaurant in the height of brunch.

Well, let me start by saying it is a very busy place. Very high turn around. That being said, there's a reason for that. I have eaten here just once before and believe me, I was not happy with just about everything. Now, for today. I was seated quite quick at a cute little table along the back wall as to oversee the restaurant. Ordered a decaf, and read the menu. Took a while as there was quite a few tasty ideas for brunch. Finally settled on the Monte Cristo with a side of west coast sea clam chowder. Sitting, enjoying people watching with my coffee. Watched as a couple that came in quite a bit after me got there food first. ( was just basics, eggs, toast, hashbrowns) so wasnt too worried as i knew time and attention was bring given to mynorder. Then it came. Cute little cup oʻ soup and a Bahemoth Monte. SHE WAS PACKED!!! I danced a little knowing that the rosemary egg wash was going to taste oh so delicious on my tounge, and it was. The amount of turkey and ham that were on it, I must say, rivaled my own homemade sandwiches which is hard to do. The cheese was pulling overtime to hold this monster together. The soup was ok. Covered in bacon strips on top and very hot. I have attached a picture for reference and I can say I will definantly be going back again to try the next secretly amazing item on the menu. I will be basing all of my monte Cristo sandwiches off of this o e from now on. Thanks!!!!

2018: Service was really good, no complaints there. Veggie omelette was basically inedible. Maybe cheese would have helped but the extra charge was too much for me, it should just be included or maybe $1 more. Server offered right away to take it back, but seemed quite upset by the whole ordeal and mentioned no one has ever send back an omelette (I didn't actually send it back, she offered and I accepted). Veggie sandwich I got instead was delicious, would order that again. Prices were really high for what it was, but I'm starting to realize that Nanaimo is just ridiculously expensive for eating out, so maybe the prices are on par with the city. Hubby's eggs benny was okay but nothing special.

2025 update: Service still great. Food was good but still nothing to write home about. Maybe I'm ordering the wrong things, because this place has a 20-minute wait for a table on a weekday. At least everything was homemade, and portions were decent. They've put some sound control panels around, but it was still really loud having so many people packed into such a small place. I probably won't come back here again.
