As much as I enjoy supporting local, the cabbage rolls are made of 99% rice & the perogies have completely 0 taste.

The staff there is lovely. Tasty pierogies and wurst, but the cabbage rolls leave something to be desired. The roll was all rice, overcooked and def on the mushy side... but the sauce over top was very tasty. $17 (plus tip) for 6 pierogies, half a sausage and 1 cabbage roll seemed a little pricey but not unreasonable. I'm glad we got the meal to share... I had been thinking about getting a package of the cabbage rolls frozen, and would have been really disappointed.

I did not have a chance to dine in at Sandy's Ukrainian kitchen, but had tried ordered food by my friend, and the experience was nothing short of exceptional. The tantalizing aroma of authentic cuisine filled the air as I savored their cabbage rolls and perogies with creamy mashed potatoes. Each delectable bite transported me back to the comforting flavors of my home country, Ukraine bringing memories a life.Beyond the incredible food, Sandy's Ukrainian kitchen has a heartwarming commitment to community engagement. I was deeply impressed to discover their active involvement in helping Ukrainian families in need. During the Christmas season, they orchestrated a heartwarming initiative to ensure that every Ukrainian child received a Christmas gift, and they also organized clothing and food donations for those less fortunate. Witnessing their genuine care for the community left me truly touched.Having the chance to collaborate with Sandy's Ukrainian kitchen on several community events aimed at raising funds for Ukrainian children's education was both fulfilling and heartening. The sight of happy children benefiting from their efforts brought immense joy to my heart. Sandy, the owner, is such an adorable and caring person. Her dedication to making a positive difference in the lives of others shines through in every aspect of her restaurant. The presence of Sandy's Ukrainian kitchen in Nanaimo is indeed a blessing for the community. Their proactive involvement in giving back and supporting those in need is both inspiring and heartwarming. I wholeheartedly recommend visiting this place not only for the mouthwatering food but also to be a part of their remarkable initiatives. With each visit, you not only treat your taste buds but also contribute to uplifting the lives of others. It is an experience that will leave a lasting impact, and I applaud Sandy's Ukrainian kitchen for spreading kindness and joy.

We love getting staff lunches from Sandy's. This is a little business with a lot of soul! We always get a generous fresh portion of perogies and sausage (it's delicious!). We have never encountered an unfriendly face here, and love the sense of community and extra care and love they put into each dish. ♡

The food was under seasoned to the point of tasteless especially for the price. And we found everything to be dry but we could have bought extra cups of sauce or gravy for $5. No thank you.
