Very cool little place! The food was delicious. Excellent service. Loved my salmon. Had the old fashioned, very tasty. My only complaint is I was hoping to try the carrot cake but they didn’t have any.

Last Thursday I called at 5pm to make a reservation for 6pm. I called ahead as we were bringing a baby and wanted to make sure it was okay. The reservation was made no problem. After we arrived and started to order we discovered about half the entrée menu was not available that night and 3 out of the 4 of us couldn't have our first or second choice meal. I'm not quite sure why we weren't told this at time of booking considering it was only an hour before we arrived. We specifically went there because we have enjoyed it in the past and wanted to support the business during all the construction but it was not worth the effort considering the service we received. The food was good when received but still a disappointing experience as it wasn't what we hoped to be eating but after getting all the way there with the baby we didn't want to leave again unsure of where would be open.

Please keep supporting this long time local restaurant! Don’t let the roadwork keep you away. It is a shame to see businesses struggling because the City takes so long to do these projects without compensation.
It is worth the effort navigating through the construction to get to the restaurant.
The quality of food at the Modern is still fantastic!! Great comfort food!! The atmosphere is very nice and the service is great considering the limited staff.

The service was great, food was delicious, and music wasn't too loud for conversation but was still fun. Someone came out and checked for a food sensitivity without any prompting, which isn't something I've encountered often. My wife and I stopped in on NYE and thoroughly enjoyed our dinner.

Great place can’t tell everyone enough how great it is. The lobster Bennys are amazing the brisket hash is phenomenal. Caesars were great and we really liked the wine selection as well as the delicious brunch drinks go there or you are missing out !!
