We had another fabulous meal at the View last week end. Our server was outstanding...I asked him his name so I could mention him here but unfortunately my memory isn't what it used to be! I called him Garcon! He was fabulous, friendly, funny, but not over-familiar. Perfect manners and table-side charm. The food tasted wonderful. The Caesar salad was awesome as was my tuna starter. My entree was ok. My friends loved their food, even the postage stamp sized appy. The Tagliatelli noodles were ok, but the seafood I picked out was tasty. My only criticism would be the portion size vs the price which is quite high. Flavour was very very good, but very pricey overall.

We had an amazing experience at The View. Service was impeccable and our waiter made our experience fun. They were accommodating when we asked to be moved to another table and then sat us at the window with a view of the harbour at night. We ordered the Seafood platter and the crab and lobster platter and both were phenomenal! Honestly, it was one of the best seafood platters I've ever had. We went for a birthday celebration and their complimentary desert came with a lit candle. Our waiter was observant and paid special attention to every dinner her was serving. The atmosphere was intimate but there was lots of light and space. I really like to be able to see my food and don't dine in dark establishments.
I had expected this to be a journey of flavors across borders — a night of surprises and creativity at a restaurant known for its “modern fusion cuisine.”
Yet, as each dish arrived, I found myself unexpectedly drawn back to something deeply familiar — a quiet echo of home.
The chowder, garnished with a few delicate sprigs of green onion, carried not only the scent of the sea but a faint whisper of pan-fried fish. Beside the seafood and steak lay diagonally cut carrots, ginger-flavored potatoes, and prawns touched with a trace of wine — each bite gently reminding me of the dinner tables I grew up around.
That familiarity wasn’t jarring. It was tenderly wrapped within the language of another culture, as if tradition had found a new way to smile through the form of innovation. Perhaps creativity doesn’t always mean leaving the familiar behind — sometimes it simply turns around softly, and lets you rediscover the warmth of home in an unexpected place.
And then there was Harry, the host who was, without doubt, part of the restaurant’s charm. With a calm smile and a warmth that felt unfeigned, he made the evening feel effortlessly personal — a reminder that hospitality, at its best, is its own quiet art.

A pleasant surprise to find this restaurant. Portion is generous and ingredients fresh. Excellent service by manager Adam, and we had a wonderful dinner with seafood, fish and a hauntingly delicious brownies for dessert. I would recommend this place to my friends.

The best seafood restaurant i've ever had!! Our server Adam had turn our trip into an amazing experience while we're in Nanaimo. We got seafood dip, ceaser salad, the view seafood flamebe, and blackened sockeye salmon. Only seafood dip was so so (but the balsamic was yumm), the rest were awesomeeeeee!!!! Even the salad was mixed with bacon evenly which was niceee.
