If the washrooms are ANY indictation of the respect they have for their patrons, then the respect they are showing your food should absolutely be questioned! With the number of staff working there at any given time, there's no excuse for how disgusting the tables, floors and especially the washroom are. Just gross.🤢

$30 for a dinner box,and the Miso soup tastes and smells sour its dark in color!!!Terriaki was such a small portion, sorry but not Worth the money!!Salmon sushi rolls had too much sauce!!Such a shame for my local Japanese restaurant 😔...poured the Miso down the drain....ugggh

Picked up take-out here tonight have a few times. Miso soup, Sunomono salad, several rolls, Las Vegas roll, Moksha with brown rice to name a few. Consistently good sushi, will be back.
As a former Vancouver resident, I was on the hunt for a great sushi spot on the island, and Umai sushi hits all the right notes. The fish is always fresh, making the hour-long trip from my place well worth it. Even when they made a rare mistake with my order, the owner’s personal apology and credit demonstrated their excellent customer service. Having ordered from here many times, I can say with confidence that it’s a fantastic choice for your sushi cravings. I highly recommend it.

I was suddenly craving sushi while in Nanaimo and started looking for a place to go. Although there were other spots that everyone seemed to recommend, this one stood out by serving me the best sashimi, nigiri, and incredibly delicious rolls. Their fast-paced yet friendly service impressed me once again, and I know for sure that whenever I’m in Nanaimo, I’ll be coming back here without hesitation!
