Its a cute little place with pretty good food with decent prices and a nice variety typically unseen at similar asian restaurants. Was a bit uncomfortably warm, however it was around 25°C outside. Overall had a good experience otherwise.

Party of 7 should really have made a reservation, opps. BUT they were able to accommodate us after a bit of an understandable wait.

It was sunday, most other ramen shop in town closed. So I walked 45 minutes from the ferry line to try the ramen here. I asked their recommendation, and I was told to try their Aburi Tonkotsu (braised pork slabs). It was ABSOLUTELY phenomenal. Easily the best shashu I've ever had. Pure joy in the mouth. The broth, pastas and presentation where perfect as you would expect from the best ramen shop. I wasnt execting that from a small town like Nanaimo. I have reviewed ramen shop from many countries and I never step in a shop rated less than 4.6 stars on google map. Well done guys, you can be proud of your art. Real masters at work. As you eat you can see the cook chatting in japanese...

Waku is a lovely welcoming small space. The broths are exceptional! Service is great too
Service was excellent, the waitress was fast going all over the place to all the tables but without making me feel rushed ever either. Amazing job.
The food wasn't the best especially the chashu pork which was very dry and tough. I will be going back to give them another try because it could've just been unlucky.

Restaurantji Recommends
This is the absolute worst Ramen I have ever tasted. The sides (spring roll & curry croquette’s were flavourless but the ramen broth was fowel, noodles overcooked and what I presume was pork was inedible. How is this place open.
Amazing as usual!
They offer a great variety, the food has wonderful flavors, and the service is top-notch.
I had the katsu curry and it was amazing! Also the gyoza was fantastic! Worth the trip from Victoria!
Best ramen in Nanaimo, and best restaurant overall too!
Amazing food, great environment, good prices. This is the single place I recommend to anyone asking me where to eat in Nanaimo.
