Apparently their coffee beans are left to ferment in the cherry which gives the bean a nutty taste. I'm probably not explaining it well but it's definitely the best black coffee I've ever had. Unfortunately the atmosphere in the shop feels a bit institutional. I would love to dress the place up with cozy and warm colours and textures. If they redecorated the place, it would probably become more of a neighbourhood favourite.

Nice open space with very good coffee. Limited selection of pastries but they are good. A great spot to sip and work or just hang out.

Friendly, charming Dan made me a flat white with beans from Ona- I couldn’t remember the last time I had such a great flatty… trust an Aussie to make one so spot on🙏 I took my coffee to go with me on my drive back down to Vancouver and was basically on cloud nine sipping on it during the drive… the nightmare of lions gate bridge didn’t even register in the midst of my caffeinated euphoric bliss. Also parking is a dream so you’d be doing yourself a disservice not to drop by.

Great spot but service was very slow…tons of potential. Let’s do better on serving multiple customers

I wanted to love this place so much; it’s so close to my house! Sadly, I got a drip coffee with soy milk, which I ended up pouring out in the sink. It tasted really bad and when I opened the lid of the cup, I saw the soy had curdled. I know this is common with soy milk, but nowadays there are barista versions of nut milks that do not curdle like that… Hopefully, this cafe considers getting a different brand :(

If you're exploring North Vancouver, whether you're skiing at Grouse Mountain, hiking the Grouse Grind, or visiting places like Capilano Regional Park or the Capilano Suspension Bridge, be sure to stop by Barrio Coffee.

The friendly employees have a true passion for coffee and are incredibly knowledgeable, ensuring you get a top-notch experience.

I tried their banana chocolate loaf, which was fresh and delicious, and the latte was just right.

It's a highly recommended spot to relax and enjoy a great break, whether you're a tourist, a local, or just passing through.

Impressive little place. Really good coffee at this spot, the Lord agrees. Right across from Cleveland Dam/ Paradise on Earth. Great neighborhood asset!

The Barista here really knows what he's doing. I upgraded the bean for my drink and he had a secondary grinder dialed in perfectly. Phenomenal drink, thank you.

Never open. Drove a long distance for a coffee, had a hard time finding it since their coffee wording is an inch high, was told they were closing in 5 min (at 3pm) so I had to leave. I tried to go again yesterday, closed. Sadly, I will not try again.

Always good coffee with friendly service. The sitting area is rarely busy which is nice if you want a quiet place to work/study/chill.

This hadn't been on my list of coffee shops to try in Vancouver, but after a nice solo hike at the Cleveland Dam, I was walking back down the road, considering what bus to take home, and saw this place. Suddenly, I really wanted a coffee.

They were close to closing, but I tried my luck, and the barista was so welcoming! He wasn't in any hurry, and it seemed like it was his café. Lots of other people wandered in while I was there and he took his time, always making sure they were getting exactly what they wanted and answering any questions they had about either the drinks or the beans they have for sale. Absolutely everyone left with smiles on their faces. Huge testament to experienced and excellent service.

As for the coffee itself, since he had an Aussie accent, I knew I could trust him to make an excellent flat white, and I wasn't mistaken! It was gorgeous. Perfect taste and texture.

The space is bright, clean, and sunny, but minimalist.

It's definitely worth the detour.
