The ladies serving us were very unwelcoming and shown no smiles, and tons of attitude. Ordered an iced caramel latte from this blonde girl working bar and it tasted just like milk. Zero coffee, prices are way too expensive for the experience we were given and the amount of chatting between the baristas when there’s a line of people waiting was disappointing. Was just visiting the city trying to find a good cafe and definitely won’t come back.

Sandwhiches are perfection (I can never choose!) and love all the baked goods and treats! Also love the rustic charm of the different antique tables and chairs. Not to mention the Fuelled by Caffeine sweaters … I’ve never gotten so many compliments on a simple crew neck sweater before

Price of coffee went up by 33% from 2 dollars to 3 just recently but quality of coffee is still mediocre to midling.

Absolutely great location. Good options when it comes to getting the coffee. Food is ok - not great.Main issue with this place is the staff. Takes ages to get an order out. Especially the food orders. Apparently it takes 2 to 3 times longer to heat a meal at this place. If they fix the staff (and staff training) issue, this place will be great

I used to like this coffee shop and it used to serve good coffees and pastries; however, recently not only the drinks are pretty bad and not comparable to the cheapest coffeeshops, but the staff are rude. There are always too many teenagers behind the bar which seem not very patient and happy about their job. Also they miss the orders often. For example, one morning they just forgot to prepare my sandwich. I paid and waited for 20 mints, and finally found out that they missed the order while talking to each other.Today, I got the worst ever Latte ever in my life (around 2 pm), I felt that I was sipping just a cup of regular coffee with a little bit of milk on top (even not steamed). Plus the girl who served it was rude, not only to me but also to an elderly gentleman who was complaining about the washroom.Hope the owner does something about it to not lose the customers. Myself and a bunch of my colleagues and friends will not get back here anymore.

The baked goods here are decent and the location is very convenient. The coffee is average. Based on the above, I tend to go here as there's little competition. My main issue is the service staff leaves a lot to be desired. I seem to get a lot of attitude from staff, particularly when I'm ordering. For example, I'll be in the middle of ordering and the cashier will keep interrupting me totalling the order, as if they are in a rush to finish the transaction. This surprises me, as I'd assume they want people to order more rather than less. This is only an example of my experience, so take it with a grain of salt.

Leaving this review not so much for potential future customers but more for the owner and staff. I grew up in the area and have worked in a lot of customer service jobs myself, so I can absolutely get having an off day. But I've been coming to Bean Around The World quite a bit over the last 2-3 years so I feel okay leaving this review as I know it's not a one off thing. The place itself is in a great location, good food and coffee (or else I wouldn't keep returning) but the girls who work there are so rarely very friendly and it's just a kinda crappy feeling when you leave because of this. I actually often make small talk with customers so I'm not always leaving in a bummed way honestly, and I love that, the vibes amongst costumers in there feels great. Obviously I keep returning, there aren't many other options in the area and it hits the spot after hiking the trails, but I really hope enough costumers who feel this way speak up so something changes. I told my mom just now I'm writing a review for the first time in my life and she said her and her colleagues who work in the Parkgate area all say the same. It's just a bummer. A smile goes a long ways. Having grown up in this area the small town vibe is part of its charm and this place lacks in that in the service department.

Dissapointed with the level of courtesy and appreciation for a paying customer . I purchased a drink this morning, as I went to pay three teenagers came to stand in front of me putting on their best cute look. I pressed skip as they watched and witnessed a shift from a welcoming face and atitude to one of contempt and disregard. I felt not valued as a customer and that an expectation for a tip for a service I had not even received yet ( filling up the cup) was not warranted. The three young staff members clearly have priorities aside from doing their job and serving coffee to the community. The drink was not great....I had to wait for the one barrista to finish her conversation with the one on the till before she started making mine.

Two days ago I ordered a matcha latte and a rice crispy square, and both were huge fails. the matcha was like drinking cold sandpaper, very rainy and not even warm let alone hot. How is it even possible to screw up a rice crispy square, but yet they did. this one was too tough to chew and very greasy at the same time. I should have learned by now to not purchase from here. A few months ago I had a cheese chive scone that was akin to eating super hard moldy flour. How can anyone serve such awful stuff? Yuk - never going here again. In the parkgate shopping plaza, you are much better off going to Cobs breads and/or starbucks in the Safeway.
