My wife and I have been frequenting Capilano Sushi over the last 8 years - less since our move out of the community - but we still make an effort to come by and enjoy the great food and amazing company. Fantastic value, fresh food, and Johnny and Viva bring a family atmosphere to this little gem that is rare to find. Highly recommend!

What stood out and overshadowed the sushi, which was actually quite good, were the dirty sticky tables.
The hygiene was in such a state that I didn’t want to place my phone on the table. The place itself has been around for years.
Update needed and serious hygiene practices a must.
So, unfortunately even though we liked the sushi and the service was friendly enough, the environment will not have us returning.

I was really pleased with this little spot. It's cozy, the server was attentive, and the sashimi was delightful.
Was my go to sushi place on the North Shore until today. Ordered take out for my normal rolls and one of them was falling apart as it wasn’t clearly wrapped properly, I called the restaurant and the Manager offered no help to re-make or apologize, instead tried to blame me by claiming “you must have driven fast and the rolls came apart!” I could not believe he was actually blaming me. Will not ever return back.

First, I’d like to sincerely thank everyone for taking the time to leave us such thoughtful reviews, whether they were 1-star or 5-star, we truly appreciate all your feedback.
That said, I want to personally apologize to those who experienced delays with our takeout service. As a small team, we usually have only one chef preparing everything fresh to order, which can limit our speed during busy times. While some restaurants pre-make rolls for efficiency, we prioritize freshness, meaning your sushi is crafted only when you order it.
I also wanted to clarify about our sashimi, we serve only wild Sockeye salmon, which has a vibrant red color when raw. When cooked, it deepens to a richer orange hue (unlike farmed Atlantic salmon, which turns from orange to light pink when cooked). If you prefer a milder appearance, you may enjoy it raw to preserve its natural color.
