We went there for anniversary. The food was delicious and the quality was up to standard. But unfortunately we found the spoon was covered something sticky and dirty front and back. Kinda disappointed, first time ever found an unclean utensils in omakase.

Everything was prepared efficiently and with thought. Each piece had unique flavors that mesh well together, and wow, was it amazing. Like the fresh prawn and shaved yolk combination. I've never eaten a handroll with cooked fish before. The sablefish handroll was delicious. We ordered a 3 flight sake sample and a lavender plum wine (highly recommended). The bafun uni was so fresh and delightful that we decided to add an additional uni order at the end. The place itself was clean and reminded me of the omakase experiences I've had in Japan. Parking is available in the building (free).

My husband and I recently celebrated his birthday at Sushi Mahana and from the moment we arrived, Ryoko's warm greeting made us feel welcome. We were then introduced to Chef Hiroshi, who prepared an exceptional omakase. Each dish was thoughtfully crafted and a delight to eat. We thoroughly enjoyed our meal. The personalized touch of a "Happy Birthday" message on the dessert plate, along with a small gift, was a lovely surprise. We will certainly be recommending Sushi Mahana to our friends. Thank you for a memorable birthday celebration.!

My Canadian boyfriend took me there to celebrate my birthday.
My Canadian boyfriend had already visited the store before going with me.
I heard from him that it was very good.
I had the pleasure of visiting Runrun on the day of the event.
As soon as I sat down, I found a birthday card.
From the people at the store
I wish I could get a birthday card
I was more impressed than I expected.
I was even more impressed by the deliciousness and beauty of the sushi being made in front of me.
I was impressed that they called me as soon as the water was empty.
It was a storm of emotion for me from start to finish.
I'll give you a present on the way home 🎁
I received a bath bomb.
The kindness of the general and the staff
I was very moved by your kindness.
I came to Canada and had a wonderful experience.
Thank you very much.
I would also like to ask about your birthday next year.

I tried out Sushi Mahana excited to see whether a great omakase landed on the north shore. It did not. Sushi Mahana delivered the worst omakase I’ve ever had, and in fact it was among the worst sushi meals I’ve ever had.
The staff tried hard but the food was abysmal. The rice was flavoured and cooked poorly, setting the stage for some very bad courses. The cuts were embarrassingly rookie and the presentation was ugly. The flavour combinations were awful, and shockingly there were balls of salt in some sushi and several pieces of fish were rubbery and stringy. The vegetable soup and miso soup were horrible and salty. My companion and I had identical feedback and were stunned that such poor quality food was served.
The ambiance and experience was lifeless and without passion or engagement. It felt soulless and mechanical.
Sushi Mahana is not a contender among some other excellent omakase options in Vancouver. The crew is not up to the task. As nice as everyone seemed, consumers need to know that the food is absolutely atrocious, not just disappointing. I spit out my food more than once, and I don’t do this often. Sushi Mahana should close its doors.

Sushi is ok. sake is ok. If you ordered sake with glass bottle, remember they’re from Amazon online store. Chief will throw the glass bottle pop quiz on your face and that’s the answer.

I reserved this restaurant for my partner’s birthday, and the quality of food and service did not disappoint. Each nigiri was made with a great care and love, and some hot foods in between were also presented very delicately. The chef was super friendly and welcoming as well. We could tell how much passion he puts into the food he provides!
I told them that it was my partner’s birthday prior to our visit, and they wrote “happy birthday” on his dessert plate at the end! They even gave him a small gift (a bar of soap) and a message card with all
the workers’ signatures! How sweet is that!! Overall, this place is added to our list of favourite restaurants for special occasions :) We will be back in the future for sure!

The omakase was great. Incredible variety of fish and other seafood.I liked the different flavours and textures during the courses. By then end of it, you will have experience and tried like 20+ different kinds of fish, vegetable roots and other garnishes unique from Japan. The atmosphere is a tad quiet for 1hr+ long course but not unpleasant. The service was great and very attentive.
