Four of us went for brunch so I asked everyone their opinion out of five stars and it was a unanimous 3.5 stars. Here is the reason: our server was really nice, friendly and helpful but the service was really slow. The food was tasty and fresh but barely warm and I really dislike places that give you the smallest amount of hollandaise possible. The whole point of eggs Benny is the sauce and then you ask for more and are charged extra. Pet peeve. My girlfriend ordered the avocado toast, and the toast wasn’t actually toasted. Just all of these little things add up to not being able to give a better rating. The restaurant itself is nicely decorated and has a good atmosphere. Like I said, the staff are very friendly and the food was good. If they can just up their game on the fine points, I would go back.

This is an interesting spot. While the food wasn’t my favourite, it’s unlike many restaurants I’ve been to before. It’s very veggie-forward and the chef has really experimented with flavours and influences.I ordered the chef’s roulette and it started with their milk buns and “outer space butter” which is everything bagel spice butter. The buns were tasty and a good start to the meal. Next up was the kale goma-ae which to me, missed the mark. It was too salty and there wasn’t enough to balance the bitterness of the kale. After that was a roasted zucchini over a mustard sauce. This was tasty and worked well together. Next was a cactus over a spicy sauce with tofu, served with rice. It reminded me of mapo tofu with a lot of spice, but again, it was salted a little too heavily for my taste. A charred cabbage dish was served next with two types of cheese over a garlic butter sauce. This was good, but needed something more (a crunchy texture, maybe). The new finished with the best dish which was the pork belly ssam. It was served with a range of accompaniments and the pork belly was perfectly cooked. I wished their was a small petit four or sweet to finish (maybe partner up with a local bakery if there isn’t a pastry chef). In terms of service, the two men working were great. They checked in frequently, were funny and described al the dishes well. The only blunder was they forgot my flat white which I was excited to try because they pride themselves on their coffee. The bill came and I just let it go.I think this place has potential, though I’d like to see them refine their flavours and incorporate a little more than a quarter cabbage as one of the courses. A dessert menu would also be great to go with their coffee. Some more protein or carb options would round things out.

The roulette is fun! You get a large variety of dishes that are colourful and tasty. Highly recommended.

Summer season is here and what's more than mimosas are brunch itself Head over to North Van's very own @winston.cafe and grab some light brunch. Portions are just right, and whether you're looking for a standard breakfast, benny or beef sandwich they got you covered. There isn't a lot of selection but it's kept small to give you some good quality eats. Pair your food with a cup of matcha latte and you're golden!

Food was very average and portion sizes were small, well presented. Too much emphasis and focus on trying to make the food look good. Server or kitchen forgot one order and we waited some time for that, after rest of food was delivered. Better brunch / lunch places around with better menu variety and value

I loved this place. Very inventive cuisine. Eggplant dish was especially tasty but it was all good. Wine list a bit pricey as we're the cocktails but all in all a memorable meal

Had heard great things and was not disappointed. Everything was so delicious and a fabulous price point for the Roulette dinner-$55 for 5 courses!! plus an amazing milk bun. Kohlrabi Caesar was great and if someone can make that vegetable interesting, I'm impressed. Fried eggplant with a lickable (was dipping my fingers in it) mustard sauce, sensuous cavatelli with lion's mane mushroom... soo good. Beautiful, creative and delicious for both vegetarians (myself) and meat eaters. The people of North Van need to be packing this place. If it were across the bridge there would be lineups down the street. You have to eat here!!!!

My sister and I did the chef's roulette for her birthday and we had a great time! Each of the 5 courses was unique and really interesting (and super tasty!!!) and it was more than enough to fill you up. There was one dish that didn't quite hit, but that is all part of the fun and experience of a pretty experimental kitchen. Excellent service. I can definitely recommend Winston to anyone who enjoys exploring different foods and flavors!

Easy restaurant to enjoy regularly. Staff are always so friendly and the ambiance is comfortable. Brunch was good, but they really stand out for evening dining! I highly recommend ordering the Chefs Roulette. You can't go wrong - all options are incredible. Including the wine pairings of natural wines

4 of us had the 5 course dinner roulette which everyone had to participate. It was $55pp. The food was delicious and didn't expect it to mostly consistently asian fusion. The only disappointing thing was that the portion size was very small. To give you an idea, the complimentary bread was 2 dinner rolls shared between 4 people and the 4 of us shared half a chicken for one of the courses, which was extremely hard to portion out. Likewise, another course was a really tasty charred cabbage, but it was about 1/4 cabbage size -- again shared. The food was presented on a single plate so we had to portion everything out ourselves. Needless to say, we were not hungry but we were definitely not satisfied. I do not recommend coming on an empty stomach. That being said, the food really was good, but not sure if $55 was worth it considering we've had a number of prix fixed meals before.

Potatoes very good The rest mediocre Charged 1.50 for hot water I will still try the 5 course dinner to see why it got such a good review from Alexandra Gill I'll leave the recommendation at yes as there are no other options and I will give it another chance at dinner.

We came here for the $50pp 5 course dinner roulette and it was a neat experience. It’s definitely for those who can never decide on what to order or those who want a surprise. I’m definitely the latter!I like how it’s a plant-forward farm to table restaurant so you know ingredients are fresh (and the dishes look great too!). The dinner roulette can be vegetarian, and even without dietary restrictions, it was predominantly plant based. My friend who loves meat was quite impressed by how well they cooked the veggies and the amount of flavour from the sauce! I’d recommend the milk buns, eggplant and the beef wrap. Although everything was good, those left a lasting impression. This place also has a cozy casual vibe, in what looks like a loft/studio. It’s suitable for any occasion really.Overall, would I come back? Yeah, most definitely. I’d be interested to see their brunch options and would be open to trying another dinner roulette since you’ll always get something new. I’d say this place is worth the price they put on their food.

The flavors were amazing! What a gem of a place - we always stick around our neighborhood to eat but decided to give Winston a try, HIGHLY recommend! Great for a date night! We are going to be heading back to do the Chef's tasting menu next!

Visited during a brief stay in Vancouver - did the chef's roulette dinner and had an incredible meal! Really enjoyed being surprised with each course as it was presented. Everything was delicious.
