What a perfect steak house a hidden gem,. I’ve been here several all the servers, cooks manager owner I’m not sure are awesome. This is one of my two favourite restaurants between port Alberni and parksville the little Bavaria in port Alberni and Kalvis a hard decide for me. Two different foods but the same service and quality. Don’t hesitate try this place try the crab cakes try everything lol and also check out little Bavaria in port Alberni

Meh. The sauce that came with the mussels was flavourless it was like having diluted cream Campbells soup and the bread that came with it was soggy. Main dish the vegetables were raw, I recommend they sub their dry rice for risotto and the sauce that came on the seafood was just meh. They need a revamp! For the price of the food it should taste spectacular! Service was fantastic but the food was not.

We had an amazing dining experience. Went specifically on Friday for the prime roast and were not disappointed. (only available on friday) It's a bit on the pricey side, but was definitely worth it. Service was excellent and the log structure is worth the visit.

The waiting staff here are very responsive and kind. However, the food was horrible! From the crusty and dry bread to start to the flavourless main dish.I had the seafood pasta and it had a mediocre lacklustre flavour. The salmon was over cooked and the scallops were raw. I can’t believe the sauce was so poorly done. I would’ve enjoyed a canned sauce from the store more. Also, there isn’t beer on tap which is unfortunate.I’m crossing my fingers that I don’t get food poisoning from the scallops. I’d recommend going to BPs and having a pasta dish there over this overpriced place.

We were a large group celebrating a milestone birthday. Service was very attentive and menu selection interesting and varied. However the food was mediocre at best. The guest of honour had to send back her steak twice, first it was overdone, then almost raw. Can't fathom why medium rare was so difficult. The two other steaks were not done correctly either. The mushroom soup was flavorless, the prawns lacked seasoning and I've had better crab cakes at a grocery store. The seafood pasta was a hit according to the young teen in our group.

We had the Cesar salad which was not fresh. The salad dressing was not fresh made from a bottle. The steak was tough not medium rare as I ordered. The Veal was a small piece but very bland. Potatoes and veggies need some butter and maybe some garlic to bring them out of its blandness. $180 for two people is a highway robbery for very bland food. Not worth the drive to Parksville.

I want to start by saying the service is great, the staff are attentive and kind. But I cannot recommend this restaurant. The food was far below average. The bread that was served was dry and not worth eating. For an entree, I ordered the prime rib and for $50+/plate, you do not expect to be served rehydrated boxed potatoes! My Yorkshire pudding was burnt and overall the dish had no flavour! It was a disappointing experience. I have seen plenty of positive reviews which led me to this restaurant and felt that I was led astray. Perhaps something has significantly changed recently, but I cannot endorse those positive reviews. Kalvas needs to replace their kitchen staff.

I have been there a few times put the last time was really disappointing. The escargot was bland. Not cooked in garlic butter?? The food has no flavour. For the price we paid I expected my better quality food.

We use to go all the time. It’s been awhile but we decided to venture out. The atmosphere has always been good, certainly wasn’t busy but we were there early. Service was good. Our waiter was nice but the young kid delivering the food really deserved the 20% tip. I don’t know how old this kid is but he was exceptional. I am assuming the owner’s son? But he was great! Now to get to the food…. It was not the best tonight. All the food was lacking flavor. I had the mushroom soup which had no flavor and then the brie and prosciutto chicken, came with mashed potatoes and veggies. The best part was the veggies. The mashed potatoes and chicken had no taste….. My mom had the escargot which she said was “meh” and she had the Veal Schnitzel, she said the best part was the cabbage. The veal was overcooked and she was grateful for the gravy because the mashed potatoes were very bland. It was disappointing to say the least. Only good thing was the service!

The staff is always friendly. The food is delicious and served expediently. The service is prompt and efficient but not busy around your table. This is a step up from any other restaurant in Parksville.Parking: The lot is small but there is lots of parking on the street.Wheelchair accessibility: The rano to the door has a slight incline.

Absolutely a gem! The best service I have had in years! The food was reasonably priced and so delicious. Our waiter made our experience one to remember, I haven't enjoyed a dinner like this in years. The setting is beautiful log cabin, so welcoming and warm. I will definitely visit this restaurant again.

Dimly lit and dingy atmosphere with old brick fireplace and log roof. Old classic music playing. Escargot and salad to start. I had the halibut and my partner had a steak and lobster tail. Service was excellent and there was a variety of young and old servers.
