We walked here for a couple of afternoon cocktails on Labour Day. We are locals so have been before but not for quite awhile. We were seated on the patio as we requested. Beautiful view, couldn’t ask for more. Server was fine, not attentive but likely inexperienced.
Our cocktails were good. What let us down and leads to only 2 stars is the appetizer and the music. A couple of years ago we were there for drinks on the patio and also ordered the spinach dip. It was so good and quite memorable, so we ordered it again this time. Unfortunately this most recent time the chips were stale (and honestly we’d prefer pita bread or chunks of sourdough, but it was chips a couple of years ago too, and they were not stale and possibly they were even warm which was nice) and the dip was a lot smaller and had hardly any spinach in it. It was quite chunky and hard to scoop. For $22.
For a more high-end (and reflected in the prices) restaurant with a beautiful view and nice table and seating, the music out on the patio was atrocious - Billy Idol,
Twisted Sister, The Who, Bryan Adams. It would have been much nicer and more relaxing to have background classical music, something soothing - something like what they were playing in their bathrooms lol.
All in all, so disappointing. 2 drinks and a terrible appetizer for $53 plus tip and we had to endure crappy fast tempo 80’s music.
Under seasoned, small portion for the price, oily coating, warm coleslaw..very mediocre..disappointing. but the view was nice.
This was by far THE WORST hotel experience I have ever had in my life!!! I travel all over the world and also travel within BC a lot for work and stay at hotels multiple times a month. Upon arrival, my booking was incorrect. I had booked two nights and they only had one. I then had to book a hotel for the second night somewhere else and it’s was a busy weekend, week on the island in the summer so everywhere was. Poked and super expensive having to do this last minute. My card was then charged again even though I was told it was charged when I initially booked.
This was THE loudest hotel I have ever stayed at. It was like adult gone wild at night with loud parties in rooms all over the hotel, yelling, screaming drinking etc until 2am. In the morning from 5:30am onwards kids were running up and down the halls, slamming doors, knocking on doors multiple times non stop, yelling, screaming, crying. This happened in about 10 different rooms all around me on my floor as well as above me. Felt like I was at a free for all kids club. I asked the children and their parents to be quiet and respectful multiple times and it only got worse. I finally decided to check out at 9am to get out of the chaos and I had had no sleep. When I checked out and complained all they said was I’m so sorry!
Thankfully so was able to book the Qualicum Inn 10 minutes down the street and the rooms were 10 times better, far far better service and food and and amazing stay. I would rate them a 10/10.
I would give the Bayside Resort a 1/10. It was
run down, no hotel policies, no noise rules or regulations and kids going crazy everywhere. I have children so I understand they aren’t always the quietest but my children have manners and know how to behave properly in public places. The only reason I generously gave them a 1/10 is because their location is great, have an outdoor pool and the restaurant has good food and patio etc. everything else was absolutely terrible!
Absolutely gorgeous place, only here for 2 nights, lovely staff and amenities pool open 9-9, great food and good selection for vegetarian or vegan
The location is great. Just a short path down to the beach. The rooms are noisy. We could hear the people above us walking around their room, there's doors slamming, dogs barking. The pitiful air conditioner in our room was SO noisy outside when we were sitting on the deck. Some of the rooms (ours was one) have NO view. The deck faces the roof and they've put up lattice walls instead of a railing so you can't barely see out.
I was pretty disappointed with my experience at this hotel. The staff seemed lovely and are really doing their best. But still, the gym is so outdated. Half the equipment doesn’t even work. And there is so much noise at all hours of the day. I couldn’t get a good night’s sleep and didn’t feel refreshed from my vacation. Unfortunately, I would not book here again.
Expensive, needs upgrades and not that clean
Unfortunately we didn't have a great experience. The food was tasty but the service was not great. There was a lot of confusion prior to us being seated which delayed seating when it was dead, the waitress seemed confused and ordering was a process-asking people multiple times for their order after already writing it down. When we attempted to order halibut we were told that they ran out, but on our way out we heard someone ordering and being told they could have halibut. At the end, we asked the waitress to make an adaptation to the bill, not in price, but something else and we were told that it can't be done because she would have to reprint the bill and it was alot of work and she kind of rolled her eyes. We thought she was kidding but she was serious and the request was reasonable. The fish was the big disappointment. I get wanting to have enough fish for dinner, but we were there at 4:30 specifically wanting halibut.
We stopped in for Happy Hour. The service was very pleasant. Food and beverages were great and th3 view was spectacular!
Been here for about five years straight and it's like our second home. Customers service and location is the best. I could say alot great things but would love for people to check it out. Pet friendly family friendly singles friendly.

Confirmed pet-friendly before booking, but upon arrival with our young family and dog we were told to leave due to a neighbour’s allergies, no alternative room was offered, and we were still charged—an extremely stressful and disappointing experience.
The room was very spacious and clean. They had a fridge, desk, lounge chair and beautiful patio with a gorgeous view. The front desk person was very helpful and they checked in to make sure we had everything we needed. This hotel is right on the beach with an access path and a patio for when the tide is in.
Dog friendly , with lots of space for walks and free homemade dog treats ! Great place to stay
Only came here for dinner. Service was terrible. However the young manager made it up to us. He handled the situation very well.
Restaurant for dinner is a bit expensive but great otherwise
Easy to find and access location. Went with my mom and bonus mom for a family lunch at the resort restaurant.
The gallery art around the restaurant and the rathtrevor beach view on the other side were lovely in the bright and open dining room.
Service was polite professional and expedient.
The shrimp BLT on a croissant, the steamed muscles, and the vegan power bowl all got rave reviews from our party.
The menu prices were super reasonable and we were easily able to find items for everyone's varied diet restrictions without needing to request modifications.
We will definitely be back.
