Fantastic dog-friendly hotel right on the water! They went above and beyond for our dog-person, providing a dog bed, water bowl, and chef-baked dog treat!! Angel at the front desk was friendly, helpful, and allowed us to store our bikes in a storage locker overnight! And there was free charging for our electric car! 10/10

We went for hubby's birthday lunch at the Bayside. We had a surf & surf appie which was a crab cake, 3 prawns and mixed lettuce salad $25). Hubby got the burger with fries ($23). I would normally order their fantastic eggs benny but decided to treat myself to the fisherman's chowder $36 (instead of the seafood chowder which is half the price) because it came with a generous handful of crab and more fish. The broth was rich and flavorful but I didn't notice any crab, halibut, scallops or sable fish. There were potatoes, carrots, 2 prawns, salmon, mussels in the shell (5) and clams. Maybe I had higher expectations based on the description but didn't want to make a fuss for hubs birthday.

Service was fine, the food was very good but I will get the eggs benny next time.

The hot chocolate was basic - no whip!

Amazing resort, beautiful ocean view. Surf sound was so relaxing at night. Great restaurant with great food. Staff were all very friendly and helpful. Lobby attendant (Pia) and desk staff( Suzanne and Jack) are first impression and they definitely pulled it off. Had a great 2 night stay.

Stayed here for our wedding anniversary, the Bayside is a nice and clean resort . Our room was over looking the ocean which was perfect !
The hotel even put a couple mini bottles of champagne on ice in our room for when we arrived with a nice card !
This was much appreciated we will definitely be coming back in the future and would recommend to others !
Thank you for the great service and relaxing environment !

The restaurant was very good aswell 👌

We booked our room 6 months in advance of our visit, because we were told the noise problem had been fixed, it has not. There is a heat pump or something above the top floor which vibrates the room every 10 minutes with a super loud hum. Upon arrival front desk lets us know that no one had noticed our request! (heart sinks). We try the room, (no choice) but that terrible noise was atrocious! We had to leave the next day (no refund for 2nd day) super disappointing. There is a beautiful view, beds are nice, but that's it.

Was actually in the restaurant for a private function. Great food, great service.

Great little place, great views and location. And great people.
Just disappointed with the mattresses, they seem older because there is the hump in the middle of the mattresses and there are sharp brackets at the bottom of the beds that are a little dangerous. Also the indoor pool is closed and no notice was made available. We came here for the pool and its too cold to be in the outside pool. They could also change the doors to the rooms because they are not at all sound proof, you can hear everything from the halls.
The people working here are awesome, super friendly the restaurant is good for breakfast and well priced.

Great view, terrible sleep — bring a chiropractor.

We’ve been coming here for years, but this might be our final stay. The only thing still holding this place together is the view — and even that’s only if you get an ocean-view room. Book anything else and you’re basically staring at a parking lot for four-star prices.

The service? Nice enough folks, but they forgot to clean our room the first day, so we came back to wet, sandy towels still on the floor — nothing says “beach getaway” like the smell of low-tide mildew. When we asked for fresh towels, they brought new ones but left the old pile behind like a memorial.

Our “quiet room” came with paper-thin walls and doors that slam like thunderclaps. You can hear every conversation in the hallway as if you’re the third guest. The A/C blows directly at your face all night — feels like sleeping in front of a jet engine set to “breeze.”

Then came the mattress… imagine sleeping on a rusty suspension bridge during an earthquake. We woke up feeling like pretzels and spent the next two weeks recovering. If you’re into chiropractic tourism, this is the hotel for you. THROW THE MATTRESSES AWAY.

Also, note: dogs barking, kids running, doors slamming — it’s a full symphony of sleeplessness. For the price, you’d think you were checking into a resort, not a 1990s roadside inn that just discovered Wi-Fi.

The restaurant’s decent but overpriced, and honestly, there are far better options in Parksville now. The Bayside’s best days are behind it — much like my spine after that mattress.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
We had such a great stay at the Bayside Resort in Parksville! From the moment we checked in, the staff made us feel so welcome , Suzanne and Gregory at the front desk greeted my family and i like we were regular guests, which set such a positive tone for our stay.

The pool was lovely, and the whole atmosphere was so relaxing. My daughter accidentally left her shoes by the pool, and not only did the front desk call to check with us right away, but a kind staff member named Pi even went out of her way to drop them off for us. That level of care and service is hard to find these days.

We’d highly recommend the Bayside Hotel to anyone visiting Parksville wonderful staff, great amenities, and genuine hospitality!

Nice hotel, good location. Too bad they were doing renovations & the indoor pool and hot tub were closed.
We went to the restaurant for dinner and my husband says the Seafood Chowder was awesome! Fish & Chips also delicious, and the Coconut Prawn appetizer was amazing! Also had the Seafood Stack with Taro Chips, very yummy, pricey!

We experienced outstanding customer service, the room was tidied daily, and the ocean view was breathtaking! Would highly recommend!
