I love getting take out sushi here!! It’s always fresh and delicious! The portions are huge! I highly recommend the yam tempura roll and the Tamago egg roll!The restaurant is a great location, nice atmosphere but could use a fresh coat of paint. Otherwise this is my favourite sushi restaurant on van isle!!

small, convenient, quiet place, way less busy than the timberlodge, but its not because the food isn't great. (i eat at both places often, they each have their specialties)their volcano roll is good, they make a decent agedashi tofu as well. everything seems to be made with care, and the fish tends to be very good qualitythey have a loyal following. i eat here around once a week and am always glad i do.volcano roll in pic. must try

0/10. First time I tried it 1-1/2 years ago it was great. Now it’s horrible, I didn’t get what I ordered. This mistake made me have to pay over 60$! On top of the few rolls I ordered. I ordered sashimi and got brought way more than I ordered. I was taken back by the amount they brought and looked at it.. (I know right then I should’ve said something) I took a bite of the salmon and couldn’t eat it. It was cut poorly, tastes awful. The California roll looked as if it was frozen then thawed out. Cut to big aswell. I do NOT recommend at all. At first the service was ok but the second I mentioned there was a problem I got lipped off, given dirty looks, and told that it was my mistake because I tried it so now they couldn’t save it. I didn’t mind paying the extra 60$ obviously I wasn’t thrilled but I didn’t care. Just upset I was treated so poorly after I brought up a problem and that the tuna and salmon sashimi was AWFUL! ended up paying 114$ when it was supposed so be a quick nice dinner. Service wasn’t good aswell. I recommend alberni sushi up their staff. (You can see how poorly the presentation is in the picture and how “musky” the California roll looks.)

Service was awful same with the food. Used to be great but has EXTREMELY declined. My dine in order was messed up and when I said so I was given dirty looks, being lipped off and treated poorly. Ended up having to pay that 60$+ mistake on top of my 3 rolls I ordered. If you look at the California roll you can see it’s musky and looks like canned crab. Not fresh tasting at all. Sashimi was terrible aswell. Cut poorly and tasted awful. I took it all home considering I just payed 114$ because they messed up. Tried to give a piece of salmon to my cat. She didn’t even want it. 0/10.

The picture I posted is of my deep friend California rolls. As you see there is just rice and avocado... nothing else... I think it's missing something..... pretty sad for a 60$ order....

Absolutely love their food. Other sushi places in town upset my stomach but I've never had that experience here. I ordered their yakisoba for the first time and was NOT disappointed. Delicious, fresh, and they're on DoorDash.

The food was delicious, and the waitstaff was extremely friendly. The food was affordable. The sushi did fall apart easily but I think that added to the goodness of it. Very flavorful. However, I asked the waitress if the food contained MSG and she asked the chef, I heard from the back the chef getting defensive about it and she came back saying chef told her it was a secret, so I believe MSG is contained in the food. Most sushi does but the fact they wouldn't tell you is a problem as some people have allergies to it. But overall it was a nice atmosphere, very kind waiting staff and good food, good portions for what you pay for I think. I would recommend the dynamite rolls, they are larger than the California roll for only a few cents more. They're also very delicious and it's cooked fish if you aren't a fan of raw. The miso soup is only a couple dollars, it is also pretty good, I would rate it 4.5/5. If you are getting a meal and just want sushi, to save you money I suggest ordering 2 orders of one of the regular rolls. I ordered 6 California rolls, 6 dynamite rolls and a miso soup and my total was only 14.75, a good meal price I think.

The quality of fish is fresh and tender while their rolls are unique & so delicious!! One of the few places that have Atlantic salmon as well. I've been to many sushi places everywhere and eat sushi at least once a week so I'm really saying that this place is worth the drive and visit!! The staff was really friendly too. They seem happy to work there. Oh it's also in more of the casual vibe dining.

My partner and I have been coming here since the opening! The food is always incredibly delicious and fresh. Today we dined in for lunch and were very fortunate to have Piper serve us! Her service was phenomenal. She imparts so much care and thoughtfulness to guests. She double-checked if my partner would be okay with fish flakes (he really appreciated that!), offered assistance with any questions, and gave friendly, prompt service. You don’t find such high quality service and food often! I highly recommend coming here for your Asian food fix, there are lots of options for vegetarians or those who don’t like seafood. Make sure to show appreciation to the hard work the servers put into this work! Thanks Piper! Your care goes a long way :)

ordered and received the wrong thing. i politely asked for it to be remade. the server told me it would take 15 mins, i didn’t have time to wait so i asked for a refund, i was receiving dirty looks so i just said never mind and just asked her to put the sauces on the food and i would go. she gave me them in a container for me to do it myself. when i asked her for the dipping sauce i had originally asked for and didn’t get, she looked at me like i was stupid. i’ve been coming here for years! won’t be back. last time something was wrong i got hung up on, i decided to give them another chance but will never go back here.
