I’ve noticed in other reviews people mention feeling like they were “interrupting something” or generally “unwelcome,” and I’d agree with that. The reason seems to be that this place is essentially run by the church but still serves the public, which creates a tension. When you open your doors to the community, there’s a responsibility to treat everyone equally and respectfully. Unfortunately, there are clear biases here — if not outright discrimination, then at least behavior that shows favoritism toward those who are part of their own circle. That may be acceptable in a strictly private or religious setting, but not when you’re serving the broader public.

I got in touch with MVB for a gluten free Birthday Cake for my celiac Wife and from start to finish the experience at MVB was top notch, they were able to help me customize my order (Raspberry Mousse cake with fresh raspberries and blueberries) and we great at communicating via email, we decided on a pick up time and I showed up an hour early (left early due to Cameron Lake fire) and the cake was just being made, Happy to wait for our agreed time and wow the fresheness of the mousse and fruits was in fact the best GF cake I've eaten!!!

The shop was busy but the staff are on top of things, I spent less than 5 minutes in total being served and out the door, everyone was friendly even in the fast paced environment and once again this Mousse will be something I crave until my next trip through Port Alberni!!!

Thanks for making our camping trip birthday amazing!!!

Wow! Wished we had a bakery like this where I live! We tried a piece of cheesecake and a cream puff pastry and both were amazing. The bread, sandwiches and donuts all look phenomenal also. Service was excellent and the tables and chairs were clean. Highly recommend if passing thru Port Alberni. Love!

Came in hoping for a sweet treat and a cozy vibe — left with a pie, a spoon, and a lot of questions. The place wasn’t busy, but the service made it feel like I was interrupting something. The food? Meh. Not terrible, just forgettable. The garbage bins were so full they looked like they were trying to escape, and there were no clean forks in sight. When I asked, I was handed a spoon… to eat pie. That was the moment I knew it just wasn’t meant to be. Disappointed, but at least I’ve got a story now.
