We are 4 ladies on a day out, with Lady Rose Marine, on the Frances Barkley.After our trip, my Daughter suggested we stop at the Starboard Grill.I'm so pleased we did.Our server was exceptional.The menu is very varied, suited everyone's tastes.The size of each dish was generous, I had to bring some home.

What a beautiful location and view, but this restaurant really needs a menu upgrade and better quality ingredients. Servers are friendly and helpful but the coffee is not good and the food has been disappointing every time I've been.IMHO this place appears only to be open still because of its excellent location and views, and because our community has very few lunch options.Sorry to have to write this. I want to like it there but just can't.

My favorite place to go when I'm in Port Alberni. Never had a bad meal there. The owner (chef) came and spoke to us and the waiter was great. They made our visit special.I highly recommend taking the time to go there for an incredible experience.

I had the "famous" candied salmon chowder. Terrible. Way too sweet, and it arrived with that kind of microwaved scum on top. I also asked for garlic bread- it arrived barely toasted and not hot or garlicky Dreadful.

The place was a bit lonely, but the staff was very friendly and empathic, they recommended the salmon chowder, I was a little skeptical but the truth is that it was delicious! The ribs were average and also the fish and potatoes, it has a nice view, there are plenty of place to park your car.

Just happened in here while visiting from Idaho. We all liked what we had. The salmon chowder was rich and filling. The chicken hot pot was absolutely delicious. My father-in-law was impressed with how filling his chicken noodle soup was. My son even liked his Dock Boy sandwich. Highly recommended.Parking: 2 hour limitKid-friendliness: They have a kids menu.

My experience was not good at all.. the waitress was borderline rude, she could not take more than one request at a time. When she brought the wrong beverage, she blamed my family member for ordering it wrong.. all 5 of us heard his order, in which was not was given to him correctly. She did not rectify the situation. Ordered the Ramen which the menu said that fresh vegetables were being used, the noodles were overcooked and the broth tasted artificial, the vegetables were frozen mush. This was a family outing with the most unpleasant experience.
