We usually enjoy the pizza here. However, during our last visit the cashier’s behavior was not very friendly, which made the experience less pleasant. The food is good, but better customer service would make it much more enjoyable.

I’ve been coming to this restaurant for over 20 years, even back when it was a few doors down in its old location. Sadly, the food is the only thing that’s ever been worth it — because the owners are hands-down some of the rudest people I’ve ever dealt with. Over the years, I’ve seen them yell at staff, belittle customers, and even bark orders at their own mother while she worked tirelessly in the kitchen.

My most recent experience was the final straw. I called to place a pickup order (I now live out of town but sometimes make the trip just for their lasagna) as I have done honestly probably hundreds of times over the years. The man answering put me on hold, then the owner got on the line and said there’d been an “incident” with my last order — apparently from last October — where it “wasn’t picked up.” He told me I had to pay nearly $50 for that “missed order” before I could order again.

This is completely false. I have never not picked up an order in my life. When I asked for the exact date or details of this so-called order, they refused to give me any — just repeated “that’s what the computer shows.” I was basically called a liar and told they’d “let it slide this time” but I’d have to pay it eventually. I was already so flabbergasted at the who situation it felt wrong to continue to give them more money and told them I would not be placing an order after all. I have no idea what their goal was with this.

I went back through my credit card statements and found proof that I’d picked up orders many times since last October — most recently on June 23 — with zero mention of this supposed unpaid order. I’ve attached that statement here because, if the owners ever see this, maybe it’ll be a reminder that they are not infallible, and yes, they can be wrong just like the rest of the world.

The arrogance, the refusal to listen, and the utter lack of basic manners are astounding. This isn’t about the $50 — it’s about principle. Treating a long-term, loyal customer like a liar over something that’s obviously a mistake is beyond insulting.

After 20+ years, I’m done, and so are many friends and family who’ve had similar experiences here. If you value respectful service, take your money elsewhere.

First time here and it was good. The baked lasagna was hearty and delicious. The fish almost seem like they were frozen nor fresh and the fries were very good.

Despite living in Vancouver, I like to go out to the suburbs and try different restaurants (this also includes chain restaurants)

My last birthday in 2024, I had wanted to do my birthday (with family and relatives) out in Coquitlam......I chose a few chain restaurants I like, but since i waited till two days before, I couldn't get suitable reservations.......

My sister wasnt exactly thrilled that I wanted to go out there, but since we do have a couple relatives in Coquitlam, she looked at it as accommodating the fewer.......and she suggested San Remo

It is one of the better restaurants Ive gone too, I almost always get the chicken and rib combo with lasagna.......I wish the lasagna was a bit better, but its pretty good (my chicken and ribs is always fantastic)

I also go with friends sometimes and they seem to like it (a popular with them, that I haven't tried is the pizza).......even my parents who actually came to my birthday this year loved the pizza (they say its too bad the restaurant isnt closer to us, but Im always out venturing.......my parents, not so much)

Yesterday, I had gone with two friends (we had Olivia as a waitress) .......though we can all be difficult with our orders .......she seemed to be happy to accommodate us, and told us not to worry, and shes here to help us with whatever we need.......I insisted that my chicken piece be a breast......my one friend got pizza, and the other lassnga and a rum coke I believe......my friends had alot of questions, and Olivia made sure to make us feel that we can ask

Thank you very much, terrific place and good food

I order from San Remos all the time. We’ve spent a good amount of money there. The last time we ordered for delivery a pop was missing. We had lots of people over and it was not an ideal time to call and report it missing. I didn’t think it would be an issue to let them know when I ordered the next time. Fast forward to today when I ordered a medium pizza and 2 desserts (comes to over $50). I let the owner (John?) know about the pop that was missing from my last order and asked could they please replace it. He said no. He flat out refused to replace the pop because I didn’t ‘report it’ on the day of. I explained that my house was a bit chaotic at the time and it was not an ideal time to call back that evening. The owner told me he can’t ‘prove’ I didn’t get the pop. Basically, he called me a liar. I told him I wasn’t trying to get a free pop…I just wanted the one I paid for which they forgot. He didn’t care. He was argumentative and told me ANYONE could say they were missing a pop. The owner then told me the pop only cost a dollar so I should just pay for a new pop. Ditto! The cheek. Very off putting and offensive. I told him to cancel my entire order because I wasn’t into being nickle and dimed over a pop. Makes zero sense to lose loyal customer business because you’re too cheap to replace a pop that was paid for.

UPDATE: October 31, 2023: Total joke! The anger management owner said we are not allowed to order from them anymore because I left them a negative review regarding the pop we paid for. What kind of business does this? Who bullies customers and turns down money instead of simply taking accountability? According to Indeed.com the owner also treats his employees like garbage and makes young staff cry. A real charmer. Emotional regulation and people skills are essential to run a successful business. San Remo’s was built on his parent’s reputation. His parents would be ashamed to know this how he treats customers.

Bullying is not okay nor is it a good look. Golphi’s Pizza all the way now. .
