Wow! What can you say!? The restaurant is part of the The Old Courthouse Hotel (see Review - wonderful, charming, historic, whimsy atmosphere). The restaurant is filled with beautiful black and white ‘poster girl’ photos of Edie Rae, along with her story. The Edie Rae restaurant is spotless, bright, airy and decorated tastefully and charming. The restaurant provides hotel guests with a ‘complimentary off the MENU breakfast’! The coffee was fresh and delicious, the breakfast was made to order with fresh local ingredients and presented so delicious and the customer service was truly amazing!! Locals and hotel guests fill the restaurant which is open 9am to 1pm. Be sure to stop by and enjoy their amazing food - so many yummy choices - don’t forget to try the Homemade Blackberry jam too! I bought four jars! Just $6 per jar of deliciousness!

The first time we came here two years ago, everything was amazing. So amazing I was always bragging about the best eggs Benny I had ever had, even the smoked salmon was amazing! So when I arrived back in Powell River this time around I was excited to go back. Unfortunately this time around everything food wise was horrible! I ordered the eggs Benny, soft. Got one egg medium and one hard, the biscuit they serve it on was old and crumbling, and I tried a total of three hashbrowns, the first one was so bad I had to spit it out, assuming I just got that one bad piece I tried another which at least tasted better than the one before but the third piece was just as bad as the first. Even my water was disgusting. If it wasn't for the server being so nice and polite the entire service would have been horrible. If this was the experience I had the first time around I never would have gone back a second time. Glad my grandma didn't have the time to go with me there so I wouldn't have put her through such a horrible experience after I bragged about how awesome it was the first time.

Enjoyed our first eggs bene experience here last week. Brunch was delicious and the local vintage character of the cafe super-cute and charming. Great server. Definitely going back!
Absolutely loved the Benny's. The biscuits they use are amazing, much better than an English muffin. Very cheerful attentive service. Even the coffee was great.highly recommend.

**Update - responding to owner: I've worked in restaurants for 8 years. If there was an issue that prevented regular service and created a delay, the servers should be proactive and inform the customers. Also, 11 orders weren't placed at the same time since there were only 2 other tables sat prior to us. We were the third table in the restaurant and arrived at 9am when the restaurant opened. The other remaining tables arrived over a 15 minute period. Once we realized table service was badly delayed, we let the server know of our situation. We would have been happy to leave without food and hit McDonald's on the way to the ferry if we knew it would take 50 minutes for a simple breakfast. Regardless, we enjoyed the takeaway, we're just suggesting your staff be more proactive and let customers know when there will be a delay or if there is a problem with the grill or equipment. As I mentioned, other than the timing, everything else was great. We enjoyed our stay at the Inn and the waitress was lovely.**We stayed overnight at the Old Courthouse Inn and received a free breakfast from Edie Rae's Cafe. We had to catch a ferry so we made sure we were downstairs to eat at exactly 9am when they opened. We figured 30 minutes should be more than enough time to have a quick breakfast before heading to the ferry. The waitress was wonderful and the decaf coffee was really good, however, we waited and waited for breakfast and it was 9:40am before we finally had to ask the waitress to box up our order for take out due to time constraints. By the time we finally received our order, it was 9:50 am. The first two tables received their food and the person who came in after us received their food before ours came out. It was slightly irritating that it took almost an hour to get a standard breakfast (scrambled eggs, home fries, toast, bacon) and an order of toast with tomatoes.Regardless, we took the takeout boxes down to the ferry to eat and everything tasted great. In summary, the waitress was very nice, the food tasted great, but 50 minutes for such a small order was ridiculous. I noticed that rather than making orders one at a time, the chef was making everybody's orders at the same time - this isn't a very productive way to service a restaurant - why should the people who come in first wait as long as the people who came in last?Regardless, three stars given for the great waitress, coffee, and food - but the wait for breakfast (50 minutes for two small orders) was not appreciated.

The food was fantastic, they close at 1pm and they have many home made items. We found the staff to be very friendly and engaging with a wealth of information.

The food was just ok but pricy in comparison to its quality. Also, unfortunately, the server ignored us several times. I like the restaurant atmosphere.

I don't know how they did it, but I had the best breakfast on my entire trip from Calgary to Vancouver. The secret ingredient must have been love.
Enjoyed the homemade food—perfectly poached eggs, home fries made with pan-fried (not deep-fried—yay!), freshly chopped, skin-on potatoes garnished with green onion, and the excellent homemade biscuit. I asked for tomato instead of bacon—no problem. My partner’s traditional breakfast cane with homemade blackberry jam in a stainless steel cup (not plastic—yay!). The cream for coffee came in a ceramic pitcher, not those horrible plastic cups. Cloth napkins . Love the eco-friendly steps taken here. So much character in the place, including the quirky candles near the entrance and artwork on sale just outside the entrance.
