Forest Bistro & Lounge

We had the rib-eye (cooked to perfection!), the Bacchus salad, fried shrimp, the chicken dish and lamb shanks. All of it absolute fine dining and a feast for the palate. The owner, John, is also the chef. Great service, very friendly. Best food in town. And then there is the sunset! ❤️

We had a phenomenal evening and dining experience at Forest Bistro! The appies and main courses were an eclectic mix of flavors that were so satisfying! One of the finest dining experiences I have had in a long time. We are lucky to have such an exceptional restaurant in Powell River. Thank you, Chef John and crew!

Waiting for ferry so went to this lounge to grab a meal to go. I got some crispy chicken wings. I was shocked at how good these were! Hot..crispy and super tasty. They had other delicious dinner items that I might just enjoy in-house next time. Makes sense it was so delicious...the owner is also a long time chef and has owned a few restaurants and it shows! Give them a try...even if just waiting for ferry!

Whenever we are in Powell River (we are from Vancouver), Forest Bistro is always a must-do. From sunset drinks, to gourmet yet casual dinners, to Sunday brunches (made-to-order crepes and omelets!!), we always have a great time with great service breath-takingly wonderful views of the ocean and islands.

I came for the Sunday brunch. Not a huge selection, but everything was really good. Had an omelette and smoked salmon Benedict to die for. And what a scotch selection not to be confused with brunch.

Absolutely fantastic brunch. Fresh, dynamic and very delicious. It is obvious the chef has tested everything to make sure it is top notch. Nothing felt heavy, but more lively and made with care.
It's the breath of fresh air within Powell River's culinary love. A+

My wife and I came here on a chilly Monday night and were warmly welcomed by owner Mike. We had some great local craft beer from Townsite, shared a Caesar salad, and two very large bacon cheeseburgers. We will be back!

I had an exceptional dinner and dining experience! The environment was relaxing, the staff were quick to respond and the food was some of the best food I had in a while. I had an opportunity to speak with the owner and I must say John is a down to earth kinda guy! He want’s to ensure his customers are happy and wants to make sure his legacy is landmarked in Powell River! John I must say you and your team have done an amazing job! And anytime I am in town you can expect that I’ll be stopping by. I believe in you and what you’re striving for! Keep up the exceptional work!

service was good waitress was pleasant. buffet was cold was really the worst breakfast ever and only 38.00 per person

Had the burger and the rotating pasta, prawn marinara, both were excellent. Beet salad started with a delicious home style dressing and the lemon tart dessert was to die for. The food here is amazing every time we come. 10/10 recommend. Keep up the great work John!

Parking: Great ambiance in this place. Lovely view of the ocean and mountains.

Update 2024, Been two years now since I reviewed originally, this place has continued to exceed expectations. The atmosphere of the room has evolved and grown with the owners, the food is exceptional and always adapting the menu.
Have been back as a regular weekly!
