The Modern Bakeshop & Cafe

Our experience was a bit irritating. Came in at 3:30. There was a sign outside advertising today’s specials (mushroom soup) and some other food. When we came in, staff was chatting in the kitchen. After a few minutes, they turned their attention to us. As we ordered some of the advertised food, we were told the kitchen was closed. Fine. We then ordered some of the baked goods that sat on the counter as well as drip coffee. The server was a bit confused and did not catch our order several times. Despite all of the food and the coffee being ready, we still had to wait. By this point, we were quite annoyed. All of this being said, the food (“love bomb” and carrot cake) was really good!

I grew up in Revelstoke and worked at The Modern 8 years ago and recently visited to try all my favorite treats that I grew up on and they just aren't comparable now, the icing is so much less and the cakes aren't the same as they were. Heres a picture of what the carrot cake was previously and what it looks like now and its just not the same. The breakfast was delicious and the drink I had was good but I was very disappointed in my favorite baked goods being so drastically different.

Service.... mediocre at best, chef seemed to care. Service staff don't care. Veggie roll has egg on it, they said it was butter, chef said egg. Chef was very lovely and fixed for me. Got a spiced vegan turnover. It was tasty! Also had vegan brownie, weird but good!

You got to stop by this bakery if in Revy. The baked goods are so fresh and made with very good quality ingredients. The service is super friendly, and the coffee was amazing. Patio seating is available.

We stop in every time we are in Revelstoke. Absolutely love the place! The staff, food and beverages are all great!

Exceptional service and quality. Got 6 cupcakes 🧁 3 Ella chocolate and 3 carrot cake. Ella chocolate was delicious and just the perfect sweetness. The carrot cake was a little dry but flavour was exceptional!

The bakery ran out of chocolate croissant and I really had a hankering for one ... Our server suggested a multi-grain croissant and that they'd add some chocolate chips and warm it up. It was delicious and I loved the initiative to and customer thoughtfulness!!!
