It's an old looking restaurant right on the side of the highway which has the best Chinese food I've tasted lol. What a wonderful surprise for us. Super good Chinese food, fresh veggies, nice meats. Very enjoyable, I highly recommend stopping in for a meal. Call ahead and pick it up if you're in a rush.

Jade Springs Restaurant lives on as Shaw Springs Restaurant! The food here is generally quite fresh and enjoyable. But if you Luke your food on the spicier side, you may want to bring some of your own preferred condiments.

This place is horrible! The service was possibly the worst I've ever experienced. The waitress looked annoyed to be there and rolled her eyes at us several times. We tried being super-friendly in hopes of connecting with her, but nothing could break that dead stare. She was definitely capable of smiling and friendly connection though because she was very cheerful with her friends in the back. The restaurant itself is in shambles. The decor was very outdated and in a state of extreme disrepair. There was plastic sheeting over windows and doors and what looked liked an entirely abandoned wing of the building that was being used for storage. It just gave us very unclean vibes. Finally, the food was terrible. The deep fried shrimp was overcooked and was so crunchy that it almost broke a tooth. The sweet and sour pork was tough and overdone. The 'chicken' or possible turkey (I don't even know what it was because the menu kept putting turkey in parenthesis next to any chicken dishes) was gross, rubbery, worm-like strips. The noodles were not the standard chow mein noodles and were a bit slimy. To their benefit, the beef chop suey was palatable and the vegetables had a nice crunch to them. This was also extremely expensive for Chinese food which made the experience that much more disappointing. Frankly, I think the only reason they survive out there is because people have no other choices. If you're traveling through there, keep on driving because this place is a major disappointment.

Not obviously a Chinese food restaurant by the outside appearance. I did wonder for a second why a Chinese restaurant would be out here in the middle of BF nowhere. Then I got to thinking about the history of Chinese involvement in the construction of the Canadian railways. At that very moment, two freight trains were passing by, one on either side of the river, and it struck me that this place must have once been a train station of some sort, and this restaurant must be the whisperings of a by-gone past. Of course, non of that may be true, and these may be fanciful imaginary assumptions. Whatever the case may be, the food was surprisingly good.

The Hong Kong Style chow mein was gobble-worthy with crispy fried noodles and lots of tasty toppings. Only thing that would make it better would be Chinese mushrooms, but this is Lytton after all.

The BBQ pork was delicious and well seasoned with what I’m assuming was 5 spice. It was an interesting change from the pink smoke/dye ring style bbq pork I’m more used to. Although this version maybe looked a little drab, it tasted more authentic. The 5 spice flavours blended really well with the unctuous, fatty pork.

You probably won’t get any cell service so can’t really order ahead of time, but stop in here for something to eat if you are passing through. I think you will be pleasantly surprised.

I just wished the chicken chow mein actually was chicken chow mein and not turkey

If you need quick food and if you stay in the campground next door and need food or passing by and need food then it is okay but overall I wouldn't go there if you have another choice.
Very greasy and not very tasty and if you're a vegetarian there isn't much you can eat....

Food was good ? Although, our dinner for 6 meal did not come all at once... rather it came 2 dishes at a time. Odd.

Bathrooms seemed clean ... although, not well indicated where they are at.

Our party arrived separately, from 2 different areas... about 10-15 minutes apart (likely due to the road work on Hwy 1)... the server bugged us to order more than beverages until the others arrived. Otherwise, the service was alright, our server didn't seem to understand English well.

Kid-friendliness: Kid friendly... not unfriendly. But nothing kid specific.
