This place is next level. Not one to post, but this is our go to place for special occasions. The deserve every award offered!
Our party of 5 had a variety of different offerings from the 3-course prix fixe menu and we weren't disappointed by any of them. I had the evening special of elk burger. Best burger I've had in years. The food and the service have both improved since the change in ownership a few years back, but the vibe and the ambiance are largely intact. We will go more often.
First time- it was very nice, great good, great service, beautiful surroundings. Would definitely do it again.
Fantastic 3 course tasting menu from start to finish! Special extras like the potato balls over red bell pepper aioli, warm sourdough bread and chocolate covered nuts were unexpected surprises. Even though the price for the tasting menu is $88, there was so much food that we took home leftovers for the next two days! The beet salad was fantastic, the tagliatelle Chestnut porcini mushroom pasta was splendid. The quail appetizer with sourdough stuffing was perfectly executed. The venison cut like butter and was the best we've ever had. The chocolate bomb looked devine, but I had no room for it!
Mountain House never fail to impress. I've been several times and always had the best experience.
The food was very-good, not great, not just-good. The ambiance was incredibly amazing, not very-good or great. I sat the the bar for dinner and it was a fantastic experience. In the front room, think grandfather's basement comfort with elevated cocktails and high-end food. Perfect combo of quality and comfort.
This restaurant offers top-notch dining with an atmosphere that radiates excellence. The staff is incredibly attentive, ensuring every detail is perfect. From the moment we walked in, we were greeted with warm hospitality and a commitment to quality. Whether it's the flawless service or the carefully crafted menu, everything about this place sets a high standard for an unforgettable dining experience.
Great getaway in the middle of nowhere. The food was outstanding, and the service was top-notch. Not cheap but well worth the cost for a great evening. Book in advance, and don't be surprised if it is crowded early. Very popular it seems.
Our experience was excellent. Service was attentive but not overbearing, each course was sublime, and the bill reasonable (only one of us had a glass of wine—$40), but the chairs would be more comfortable with more substantial cushioning. Our dinner guest greatly praised his experience, as well.
Clubhouse sandwich and Big mountain burger. What a deal $16-17 each and comes with fries. Food met expectations, a classic diner experience. Highly recommend if you want something simple, delicious and not overly priced. Service was fast and staff were friendly.

Promptly greeted and seated on time upon checking in and arriving. The three course course where you can select appetizer, main, and dessert is superb value, and overall very well executed. SVery warm, thoughtful, and personable service. It is refreshing to have a package like this where the historic interior and cuisine approach creates a unique experience. The food is very classic Californian American with 1990s era San Francisco fine dining vibes, and a touch of classic French. No extraneous flavors ingredients that don't belong, and proper cooking techniques. Seafood seared and or grilled properly to the right texture and aromas. The profiles are very enjoyable with wine on top of that. At $88 this is superb value, and there is also a slightly pricier chef's tasting menu that looks great and very competitive for the current dining scene.
The Mountain House was a fantastic experience. Great food and service and a cozy mountain setting. Will definitely return.
Mountain House has been a family favorite for years. Now that my daughter & her husband live in SoCal, it's the first place she wants to go whenever they're back in town. Dinner was delicious as always & the service was great. Can't wait until I have an excuse to go back.
So disappointed. Have had wonderful experiences and lots of fun. They changed hands and we will not be back. The main dining room ONLY serves a price fix menu. No indication that was the only service in main dining. You have to find a place in the bar to order off a bar menu. No indication on Web site. Price fix menu was limited and expensive. Have loved this for years. So sad.
