I had a great experience with the staff. Harnaz was a great staff member and she was very friendly and easy to approach. Even at a busy time, she had a smile on her face and was very helpful to the customer. She made my visit to A&W really pleasant.

Terrible service.
We visited on 25 Nov 2025 afternoon. The female cashier just let the customers wait at the counter while she was doing nothing but standing just 2 steps behind the counter (she certainly knew we're waiting for her because we had eye contacts). When we finally got the chance to order, her attitude was very bad and we felt like she did not want to work here at all.
I am writing with a heavy heart after experiencing what can only be described as unacceptable—and frankly, borderline discriminatory—treatment from the cashiers. Had this happened to me, I might have let it go. But your staff directed their behaviour at my eight-year-old child, and that is something I absolutely cannot overlook.
On Sunday afternoon, 16 November, we ordered a meal that included French fries. When we received our food, we realised that no ketchup had been provided. I asked my eight-year-old to go to the counter and request some. He has only recently arrived in Canada and is not yet fluent in English, but He is perfectly capable of asking for ketchup.
I stood a step behind and observed. My child approached the female cashier on the far left and politely asked for ketchup. Despite there being no customers waiting, the cashier simply pointed to the counter beside him and said something. The counter she pointed to was unattended—the male cashier standing there had his back turned while “preparing” something, though it wasn’t clear what. My child, taking the instruction at face value, went to the empty counter and waited.
And waited.
And waited again.
The male cashier did not appear busy in the slightest; he was simply chatting leisurely with another staff member. My child stood there for nearly five minutes waiting for a sachet of ketchup. Five minutes—an impressive level of inefficiency, even by the most charitable standards.
Meanwhile, the area behind the counter was absolutely crowded with staff. I have travelled widely and visited countless fast-food restaurants, but I have never seen so many employees squeezed into such a small space doing, apparently, so very little. One wonders if A&W management believes in cost control at all.
Eventually another female cashier appeared. Astonishingly, she did not address my child at all; instead, she immediately began taking orders from customers waiting behind my child. Only then did the first cashier—the one who sent my son to the empty counter for no apparent reason—approach and hand him the ketchup she could have given him in the first place. I was genuinely stunned. What prevented her from handing it over initially?
I considered confronting them on the spot, but I knew exactly what would happen: an insincere apology, perhaps a flimsy excuse or two, and the issue quietly swept under the rug. So I decided instead to report this properly to A&W, because this behaviour is entirely unacceptable.
My child is from Asia, is eight years old, small for his age, and still learning English. None of these things give your staff the right to treat him as someone unworthy of attention. What happened was borderline racial discrimination—and the target was a young child.
I have been a frequent A&W customer, and at every other location I have encountered friendly and helpful staff. That is why this incident was so shocking.
I hope to see staff who understand the basic principles of human decency, rather than those who so spectacularly failed to demonstrate them on this occasion.
