Bay Sushi in West Vancouver is what I would call a solid, reliable neighborhood spot—it’s never going to blow your mind, but it also won't disappoint if you're just looking for a quick and standard sushi fix.
The atmosphere is simple and utilitarian. It’s a bit of a standard setup, focused more on efficiency and takeout orders than on a high-end dining experience. Service is usually prompt, if a little rushed, especially during the lunch rush, which is fair enough for this kind of establishment.
The menu is extensive, offering all the classic rolls and combinations you’d expect from a local sushi joint. We tried the California Roll, some Salmon Nigiri, and the Chicken Teriyaki box. The fish was adequately fresh—nothing spectacular, but perfectly fine. The rice held together well and was served at an acceptable temperature. The Teriyaki was perhaps a bit heavy on the sauce, but the chicken itself was cooked through and tender.
The value is average for the area. You get what you pay for; it’s not the cheapest spot, but it’s certainly not the most expensive either. The portion sizes are decent.
Overall, Bay Sushi is a dependable workhorse. If you're running errands in West Van and need a quick meal that meets basic expectations, it gets the job done without fuss. It’s a good choice for when you want sushi, but don't need a memorable event. Three stars—exactly average.

What a lovely gem in Horseshoe Bay. We decided to give it a try despite the bad reviews. We like to make our own minds up and we are pleased we ate here. We had Miso, edamame, tuna and salmon sashimi, gyozo and tuna maki. It was fab. The sashimi beautifully prepared and presented and it was fresh and melted in the mouth. We left there very happy and so pleased we visited. Well worth a try.

i’ve never given a 1 star review but here it is. i entered the restaurant and it seemed fine until it was ready to order and we had ordered two things until she pointed our her tiny sign that said $10 per person and asked if i could read english?? We had tried to order a little more but left because of her tone and how insufferably rude she was. the moment she saw we were not ordering she shouted bye and grabbed the menu right under us. i’ve never been upset at a worker in my life but that was beyond me. if i could give a zero star i would. she’s the rudest woman i’ve ever met and hope her restaurant ends up like her personality! yes i can speak english and i hope it’s adequate enough for you to read about how terrible you and your restaurant is! hope you can understand my english!

They snapped at me when I asked if we could close to the door on a rainy, windy 10 degree day after they told us to sit right by the door. My family of 3 each wanted a light lunch of a miso soup and a roll but that did not satisfy their $10 per person minimum spend, which they rudely told us when we tried to order. They’re entitled to their policy obviously but there was no one else in the place 🤷🏼♀️ and their attitude was next level unfriendly. Do not recommend.

The food is at best two star, my order was taken over the phone (nothing complicated only 3 items) I must add that I walked over from the ferry line up 20 minutes each way to find one item is missing on my order, when I phoned in I was told “but we didn’t charge you for it” no apologies or efforts to make up for their error.
The customer service is very poor, for the 3 times I have been here I have experienced a rude and unwelcoming attitude from the staff.

I ordered from the restaurant a while ago. Their food is very good for their prices. The rolls are somewhat small so I would recommend ordering a couple. However, in the 10 minutes that we waited for takeout, we experienced some substandard customer service. I assume it was mainly some misunderstanding and/or impatience from the waitress.

Avoid. Odd experience. To begin with, they would not let us sit at the counter in front of the chef, no explanation. Moved us to the other counter. Atmosphere is much to be desired. Smellwd kind of life a fish tank / aquarium. Started ordering, was told off because my 3yr daughter was not eating and we needed to spend more to cover her seat. Owners had a very short fuse and continued to berate us until we left. In short, anything else in the area is a better option.
