All three of us were happy with our meals and this restaurant is actually quiet enough to have a decent conversation. Service was competent and friendly without being familiar. Prices are typical of a French bistro; my bill (before tip) was $28 and change for a glass of house wine and a lovely Nicoise salad made with fresh tuna.
Cafe Ca Va is a jewel of a restaurant. It is beautifully appointed. I have been for dinners and for lunch/brunch. The food is excellent. The ambiance is warm and welcoming. The service is great. The food is prepared with obvious care and dedication to the dish and its ingredients. The presentation of each plate is most appealing. It is truly a pleasure to dine there.
Food was good. The service was as one would expect for the price of food which was on the higher end of average but certainly not overly expensive. We would definitely return.
Food was exceptional, though the Ravioli did not seem like the best value in terms of volume, but the short rib and buffalo was well portioned
Pictures can say a thousand words, but the proof is always in the pudding. Ambiance: this restaurant is capatalizing on advertising kickbacks, with two gianormous tv screens with a constantly changing scenery depiction, but always with a code to dial in and guess the location. The restaurant disgusises itself as a French bistro, with an impressive looking menu, but is in fact a cafe that serves pre cooked meals. We attended for an intimate valentines dinner. The beef short rib was tough, and clearly cooked earlier, and just warmed to serve. The appetizer mussel and clam dish was disappointing, with sand in the bottom of the wine broth. Wines were mediocre, and dessert was a good attempt, but just didn't hit the mark. The restaurant was extremely busy, but severely understaffed. The two servers and a relief did their best, but unfortunately that wasn't enough to provide the dining experience on an occasion like Valentines Day. Very disappointing, was slightly embarrassed for choosing this location, but made the best of it. Wouldn't return, wouldn't recommend it to others.
Wonderful evening. Great food, lovely decor and fantastic service. During ‘dine out' so very busy but staff was super attentive. Local West Vancouver restaurant that is totally worth a visit!
All around good meal, good service and good ambiance. Would recommend and come back again!
Had a wonderful experience here. We tried their menu for dine out vancouver and my entire party was impressed. The warm potato salad, the mussels, the butternut squash soup, the ravioli, the beef bourgnon, and the dessert was all phenomenal. The staff are extremely helpful and welcoming and the ambience is beautiful. It's a west van gem!
Casual, elegant and the right degree of comfortable. Attentive and knowledgeable staff and a willingness to accommodate their customers. I asked for the steak tartare appetizer to be made full size, and they did so without any hesitation and up-charged a reasonable amount. The poached pears were done uniquely too. All in all, good food and a very pleasant experience.
We drove all the the way here to find out it was closed for the holidays. Would have been courteous if they updated status on open table to not accept reservations. We were so excited to try this place out.

The limited menu has very good items, interesting and not the usual boring stuff. Enjoyed the food and service. Restaurant is due to close for the month of July for a reno and an increased focus on dining whereas currently their is a focus on being a coffee shop/bistro. Look forward to it reopening.
Went for Father's Day breakfast. Only about 5 items to choose from for a breakfast which was disappointing. Kitchen got two of our four orders incorrect which resulted in dad getting his breakfast after we had finished ours. The house refill coffee was not good at all. Such a pretty restaurant but disappointing experience. Been there for tea/coffee with a friend and it's nice for that.
Met 3 lady friends for dinner here. Sweet young guy with great voice singing but way too loud for such a small space and no need for a mike. Found it difficult to hear the conversation. Ordered duck confit and had to send it back as I got roast duck cassoulet. I have had duck confit here before but either new chef or new owner has a different idea about duck confit which should be served dry and very crisp/ well done , not just roasted and served wet and in a bed of bean stew. My eating companion owned a 5 star restaurant on the North Shore and agreed the duck was not served as listed on the menu. Server was terrific and replaced the dish. Chef needs to understand French cooking better. Still recommend this venue but watch out for the nights when live music is on and don't order the duck if you want confit. My friends enjoyed their meals. All in all a pleasant experience.
we had dinner at the restaurant with friends recently and found the food and service to be excellent. We were disappointed for the owners as there were only 2 other tables filled and no other customers came in while we were there. The restaurant has very nice ambience and may need more publicity.
To begin we had an enjoyable time meeting with old friends but... The service was very slow. The appetizer we selected came at the same time as my wife's salad when we expected it way before. It took a long time for our dinners to arrive and although our friends enjoyed theirs I did not. Later into dinner my friend and I re-ordered a glass of wine and a pop, neither of which arrived. Trying to catch the waiter's eye proved nearly impossible and to do so we eventually raised our hands as if we were in class. On the positive side we were not charged for our desserts. I put most of our issues down to a relatively new restaurant that will, hopefully, work out the bugs.
