Great fresh tasting food. We also appreciate the fact that the soup got served hot, Very attentive serving staff. All four of us really enjoyed our dinner.

Should have gone elsewhere. Had the two piece cod and chips, more like one cut in half. I received a small dish half full of tartar sauce not enough for one of the pieces. I used it sparingly but after the first piece it was all gone. I asked for a tad more tartar sauce, she replied it would be at an additional cost!? It’s not the cost but the fact I’d have to pay more for sauce.
The quality of the fish was not great either. Next time I’m waiting down here I’ll go elsewhere if I’m peckish.

Good food. Portions are small for the price. Half of the calamari served was just fried batter disguised as calamari. The mains came pretty late and we haven’t even received an apology.

Good food, quick service and great location. Menu was clearly marked with Gluten Free items. Sever was knowledgeable about cross contamination of food. Would visit here again next time.

We had dinner here and really enjoyed it. The food was delicious — the burger was juicy, and the Linguini Pescatore was well-seasoned.

The staff were super friendly and welcoming. There’s free parking right in front, which is really convenient. Sitting on the patio with the windows open was such a nice touch — you can see the ocean and feel the breeze. A great spot for a relaxed dinner with a view.

Horseshoe Bay may be a small little hamlet tucked away from the hustle and bustle of metro Vancouver, but in punches way above its weight class, when it comes to fantastic places to eat, or simply grab a drink, as we did.

On an unseasonably warm day in May, that quickly became not just hot, but humid, my wife and I sought refuge indoors (well, semi-indoors, anyway), grabbing a sheltered, greenhouse-like booth in the back garden of Olive & Anchor, ordered a round of drinks, and sat soaking in the atmosphere of this charming restaurant in a similarly charming village.

Quaint, rustic interior and décor; excellent, attentive service; incredible location (and views!); what more can you ask for than that? Well, other than some olives on the menu, perhaps....

Stinky stuffy air upon walk in, spider webs, chairs are old and scratched and spray painted black and are sticky from gunk of layers of grease and germs, staff are distracted and forgetful and forgot to bring items and some extra items by error and toilet is so tight and smelly with no vent and tissue paper. Makes me sick to touch the door handle thats full of germs and discolored metal that i would usually open with a tissue and toss it away as i walk out. Never go there! Alsl lettuce in the salad was wilted and boring, the fries were also rancid and old. Come on guys serve better fresh food on a saturday. No wonder you are so quiet with your service and have only 3 tables from 10 tables taken!

One of the Worst Dining Experiences I’ve Ever Had

I rarely leave negative reviews, but this restaurant truly left me stunned—in the worst way. From the moment we walked in, the service was disappointing. We were seated at a terrible table despite the restaurant being practically empty. When I politely asked if we could move, the server told us that all other tables were reserved. That would have been understandable if the place wasn’t still empty an hour and a half later.

Throughout the meal, the service continued to be shockingly bad. They brought out our food without clearing the dirty dishes, leaving us to awkwardly stack them and repeatedly ask someone to take them away. It took ages for anyone to fill our water glasses, and they never refilled them unless we asked—every single time.

We ordered based on recommendations from our server, Alexa, who told us the meals came with a choice of fries or salad. What she failed to mention was that choosing a salad instead of fries would cost an extra $3–4 per plate. When I asked to speak with the manager about the unexpected upcharges, her response was unprofessional and dismissive. She admitted the mistake was on their part, but said that if she removed the charge, she’d have to pay for it out of her own pocket—which felt like a guilt trip rather than customer service.

To top it all off, the menus were disgustingly dirty, and the staff was generally cold and rude.

Overall, this was hands down the worst service I’ve ever received in a restaurant. With so many great places to eat, I strongly recommend you go literally anywhere else.

Great food, and it comes out really fast which is great if you’re in the ferry lineup :)

Nice comfy place. I liked the menu: different and delicious. We arrived early before 6pm on a Saturday. A nice walk at the Pier is a must!

We have been going to Olive and Anchor for many years. We thank them for all the great meals we have had there. It is truly and amazing place and we always have a great experience. Love it and all the people that work there. Rick and Lisa own it and are such beautiful people. Rick run the front room and Lisa runs the kitchen and they are both so talented. Lisa was was one of the top chefs at Lacroadile and Rick is the nicest guy you could ever meet. Bravo! You will not be disappointed.

I was so excited by the food that I forgot to take photos. We had the gyozas and the calamari to start. Both were excellent. Followed by the haddock fish and chips with yam fries. Simply delicious. Fish was light and flaky (not too much breading) and the yam fries were the best I have ever had. Marcus was an amazing server. We had to get in and out quickly to make the ferry, and he was so attentive. The ambience is quaint and warm. We will be back for sure!!

We were there to have dinner last Wednesday, October 9th. The restaurant is really nice, our server friendly and overall the food was good.
The thing that really destroyed the whole experience and left us really shooked was that we started overhearing the chef complaining about a family and a baby sitting down. Keep in mind the baby was not angry or crying, just making regular noises and the lady was talking terribly about how mad she was at the family, and how she wanted them to leave because of the baby making noises, then proceeded to make comments about the nationality of the people as well. As far as we understood this is a family restaurant, so we do not understand why was it such a big deal to have a baby there. Needless to say, we wouldn’t like to come back and eat a place were employees talk that way about the customers and have food cooked by a person who clearly does not know about etiquette. Maybe the owners or management should take care about what is being spoken in front of guests.
