A Guide to the Best Pizzerias in Denver
Forget the so-called "Colorado-style" pies: Denver’s pizza scene has evolved in exciting ways over recent years. The city has become a hotspot for creative, local interpretations of regional pizza styles from across the country, while also developing its own trend—naturally leavened sourdough crusts topped with seasonal, locally sourced ingredients that go far beyond classic toppings. Here's our ultimate guide to the best pizza in Denver right now.
1. Hops & Pie
In 2022, Hops & Pie, a craft beer bar, took a bold step by switching to sourdough for all its pizza styles, including Detroit, New York, and Sicilian. This decision enhanced the flavor and texture of the pizzas and aligned with the growing trend of using naturally leavened dough in the culinary world. The bar pairs artisanal pizzas with a carefully curated selection of craft beers, letting you enjoy a combination of vibrant flavors. Since then, the switch to sourdough has been met with enthusiasm, attracting pizza lovers eager to explore these classic styles with a modern twist.

2. Dough Counter Pizza
What truly sets this place apart from others is the combination of flavors that you wouldn’t typically expect from pizza. The crust is thick and sturdy, perfect for holding all those toppings without getting soggy. The Vodka Chicken Parm adds a creamy, savory kick, while the Big Mac pie gives you a nostalgic taste of a classic burger in pizza form. If you’re looking for something different, Dough Counter is definitely worth checking out.
