I am generally not this critical of any place or in general, anything in life. But this place inspired me to write this review in the best interest of all who may visit the restaurants in the The Whizin Market Square complex. Please be extremely skeptical of eating at any of the places in this shopping complex in its entirity, because I have been to many of those (not by my own choice) and today is the day, I decided never to go here again. đ
--A Taste of Regret: A Rhyming Roast of the Sham Basta Restaurant
Only dine here if your heartâs desire
Is to balance one cheek on a seat set on fire.
The cushions cave like a poorly baked bun â Half your buttock hangs, the other halfâs done.
Come here if you love to splurge and sigh,
Paying prime prices for food bone-dry.
Each biteâs a riddle your stomach canât solve â Flavors absent, ambitions dissolve.
The staff? Enthusiastic, perhaps⊠or just lost,
Thrown in the kitchen regardless of cost.
The chefs seem trained by whispers and dreams,
Following ârecipesâ torn at the seams.
The patio boasts a view so plain,
It makes beige wallpaper look urbane.
You came for vibes, for laughter and cheer âInstead you question: Why am I here?
Only visit if taste and joy donât matter,
And you long for hopes to quietly shatter.
If youâre hungry for chaos on a porcelain plate,
Then book a table â itâs your unfortunate fate.
A neighborhood gem!
Lemon Roasted Jidori Chicken & Quinoa â a miss for me. The chicken was dry and bland, almost like scraps or leftovers tossed into a salad. The whole dish lacked flavor.
Carbonara for my friend and unfortunately, the carbonara wasnât well executed. The egg ended up scrambled, which threw off the texture and richness. Carbonara relies on precise technique, and this one missed the mark. Luckily she didn't notice.
Most fabulous Italian food, it's as good as being in Italy đźđč
Amazing food, great service.
Good food, good atmosphere, great service
Went on a Thursday night and there was still a wait so I imagine this place is always busy. We waited about 35 minutes but there are other business there to keep you busy. We had the seafood pasta and the shrimp pasta. We do love seafood. Both were solid but we definitely agree that the seafood pasta was better. Would definitely recommend this place. It's not too expensive and the portions were decent. Food was good. Service was good too. Would definitely come back.
Very nice place little bit noisy.
Nicolas helped us and moved us to less noisy area
Food was very good

Please read this and not as a review from a pretentious person. I really mean this to help people decide where to find authentic Italian fare. Basta is no longer it.
I know how hard it is to find authentic Italian fare in LA. I lived in Rome for over 20 years and I am in Italy every 2 months if not more. When I first went to Basta it was a decent Tuscan steak place. Even took my mom there. Tonight was the last time. Do not waste your time.
Nothing about this place is true Italian (anymore), except maybe the owners. Not the menu. Not the service. Not the food for sure. Honestly, non si fa cosĂŹ.
Here are the facts: my wife ordered a steak and was told by the waitress "sweetheart, our steaks are really big" and said she should look again; the steak was handled in bare hands by a waiter to show the table (and then his friends at a nearby table where they shared a laugh over the steak); silverware dropped on the floor by one of the wait staff who gave the knife just the same to the next table since no one saw; a glass of montepulciano handed to me as "the red wine you ordered" only to find out it wasn't the wine I ordered, which did appear on my bill though; inedible cacio e pepe and a pizza that was equally inedible; 2 pasta entrees served 10 minutes before my wife's pizza with that explained as "family style" -- "when the kitchen sends it out we serve it"; the waitress forgot the specials and tried to explain the menu by telling us things that were clearly untrue (again, I know what chitarra are); I could go on.
Overall, I was offended that good people were spending hard earned money for an Italian meal and were being served questa roba, from the antipasti to the bisteche. Che tristezza. Until they fix what is clearly broken, go elsewhere.

Went into this restaurant without any high expectations of anything. Since it is in a strip mall and it looked like kind of a hole in the wall little spot, but this was a really great surprise. My meal was mouthwatering. It was delicious. The atmosphere was great. The servers and the customers there were friendly. We had some really good drinks, and my overall experience was fantastic.

Had the please to dine here on a Sunday evening. The theme of the menu is North Italy. Creams, light oil and plenty of meat dishes which are their main attraction.
The taste reminds me of Milan, and if you are thinking of red, bolognese, or spaghetti this isnât the place.
Servers are all Italian, ambiance is nice and flows. The owner sits at the end of the bar near exit and greets patrons on their way out
I lived in Italy and basta (enough) is a decent place with slightly overpriced menu.
Wasnât a fan of the owner who seemed rude to a few people but try the food itâs a hint of Northen Italy.

This is a truly great restaurant, where the authenticity is genuine, the servers are professionals, and the food is expertly made with the highest quality ingredients. A massively popular local spot for the right reasons.
