We recently had the pleasure of dining at Mandarin Lotus in Agoura Hills and was thoroughly impressed. We ordered the Black Velvet Belgian Chocolate Chicken with Apple Wood Smoked Bacon Confit and the vegetable fried rice. The chicken was a delightful surprise; it was incredibly flavorful and a must-try, even if you're a bit doubtful about the combination. The vegetable fried rice was equally fantastic - packed with fresh veggies and, best of all, not greasy. It's no wonder this place gets five stars from me. As a fun bonus, the walls are adorned with autographed headshots, which was a nice and unexpected surprise!

I haven’t had Chinese food in 2 years since finding out I had a gluten allergy and had to go gluten free. I found Mandarin Lotus on the find me gluten free app and this place did not disappoint. The owner recommended Belgium chocolate chicken and my first thought was no way, however, I decided to try it and it was DELICIOUS! The owner is very friendly, knowledgeable about gluten free and there are many options to choose from. I will be back and highly recommend this place!!

Delicious food worth every cent, and even better staff. Food came out quickly, and accomodations for allergies were met instantly. Amazing atmosphere to be in, with many celebrities sharing the opinions out family have on the place. Small and easy to miss, but an unforgettable time once entered.

I had such a great experience at this restaurant! The food was incredibly fresh and full of flavor – especially the lemon honey chicken, which was the best I’ve ever had.
On top of that, the owner (who also served us) was extremely friendly and welcoming

DO NOT EAT HERE. RED FLAGS FROM THE MOMENT WE WALKED IN.
First we asked to use the restroom and were told to go across the street to jack in the box. Red flag number 1.
Next we were told they don’t serve water, only water bottles that we have to pay for. Red flag number 2.
When we tried to order everything was up charged, we were told that making it spicy was an extra $6 dollars.
When we finally gave our order ( which was 6 entrees, 1 soup, rice, water bottles ) we were told we barely ordered anything from the owners and to add this and add that.
We finally had enough and just got up and left. Best decision we ever made. Ended up going to a Thai restaurant in Westlake.
Don’t get fooled by these people. They are a scam.

This place has always had the best Chinese food I’ve ever had. The service is amazing. The owners are a married couple who run the whole restaurant by themselves. The chef crafts delicious and unique signature dishes that you can’t find anywhere else. They are always giving us complementary desserts and appetizers. Kim is so knowledgeable and I recommend asking for her recommendations.
This time we got egg flower soup, the Crispy Calamari w/Argentinian Sauce and Black Velvet Belgian Chocolate Shrimp (I know, sounds weird, but it was SO GOOD). The food came quickly and every dish was exceptionally flavorful, perfectly cooked and beautiful to look at.
Thank you Kim! We will definitely be back.

Reviews are subjective and depend on the person, however, I’ll explain my one star.
Perhaps this place has good to-go food, but I wouldn’t personally eat here. I am not one to judge a book by its cover, and have eaten at plenty of “hole in the wall” spots that were hidden gems, but this place isn’t it.
To be fair, I didn’t eat the food but slightly glad because of my gut instincts.
Went to dine with my family, when we arrived around 5:30pm, no one was inside, but we walked in cause the sign said OPEN. A nice lady walked out from the kitchen and turned on a standing fan (there was no A/C and it was hot. We sat down, even though we were hot, wanted to give this place a shot since it’d been here since the 80s and had good reviews and the photos looked good.
We browsed the menu and after about 15 mins she asked us what we wanted to drink. This place only carries bottle of water, and not just any bottle of water, but the worst tasting water in the world, arrowhead(also could be my own opinion).
Side note, there wasn’t a bathroom in the restaurant .. possibly in the kitchen?
We ordered 2 waters a Diet Coke in a can and a la croix (surprising they carry la croix and not a better water ).
She sets the drinks and walk away and we decide to leave .. the vibes just weren’t vibing, we weren’t feeling it.
We told her we were only going to pay for one water since we only opened one bottle. She charged us 4$ for one bottle of arrowhead…….
We paid, and walked out and never looked back.
I wanted to enjoy this spot, and although I didn’t give it a full shot and have no idea how the cuisine is, I wasn’t sold.

ABSOLUTELY DELICIOUS. Quality food!! Amazing ingredients and no oils. Two days here in a row!
We had dinner in this restaurant last night. What a terrible experience. Not recommended at all. There were no waiters as only the husband&wife were running the place, so the service was extremely slow. The husband was cooking, and the wife was helping in the kitchen, taking orders&serving food. For appetiser, we ordered Argentinian dumplings, which were burned, and shrimp rolls that were tasteless. For the main course, we ordered Kung Pao Beef, which barely contained any meat. It was only onion&bell pepper. The Szechuan chicken, which had the tiniest pieces of chicken, was filled with broccoli, carrots, and of course onions. We ordered steam rice and she totally forgot to bring it and never apologised for it. She served only bottled water ($3 each). We were not charged the prices that were listed on the menu but totally different&higher ones because we wanted our main course to be a bit spicier. ($4-5 higher because of extra pepper). A true rip off. I'm extremely disappointed. PANDA EXPRESS would have been tastier with better service.
Absolutely obsessed with this place! My family and I are basically on a first-name basis with the takeout menu—we order every week like it's a sacred ritual. Portions aren’t massive, so don’t expect leftovers for your imaginary friend—they’re perfectly sized for one (aka: no sharing, back off). Everything is made fresh to order, and it’s SO good. This isn’t some cookie-cutter chain restaurant—it’s a mom-and-pop masterpiece. Ms. Kim, you’re a total gem—thank you for always treating us like family and feeding us like royalty.
The best Chinese food EVER!!! It’s a MUST!!
