I love sandwiches! Great meat, fresh breads , variety of drinks ….. and of course something for the sweet tooth😍 Finding a replacement for Genova’s of Oakland has been a decade plus challenge for me … until I discovered Domenico’s in Alameda!
I pay attention to the staff’s unspoken language and if the owner is present I watch them too! Well I always say staff reflects leadership… pleased to learn both are great people.
‼️Mrs Domenico and son really set the standard. I’m terrible with names( he told me his and his mother’s name) so I don’t want to mention but if you go there you’ll know immediately who I’m speaking about . ‼️
I’m all about legacy and family tradition, this is a third generation establishment which holds the same love & respect to the craft and people. It’s in the service.
Thank you for serving great quality food!

This place is an Alameda icon... I used to eat here as a child in the 1990's. Came back to the Bay Area for the first time in over 20 years. Domenico's is one of the few old school Alameda joints still around.

I got a Avocado & Turkey on Sourdough. Absolutely as delicious as they were in my childhood.

Best sandwich spot in Alameda! This is a great old-school Italian deli. Try the Italian combo or the home-made Italian Roast Beef.

HELLO EVERYONE! THIS IS EL READER!

I need to be honest—this was my FIRST time ever visiting this place, despite many people recommending it. One of the reasons I hadn’t gone until today was primarily because of the times they’re open as well as the location, which has very limited parking. (WE NEED TO BE A CYCLING AND WALKING CIVILIZATION!)

I went all out—possibly the most I have ever spent at a sandwich shop. I ordered the lamb sandwich (because I wanted to feel a bit bougie), the smoked turkey sandwich, spaghetti (ordered ahead), three meatballs, their tiramisu (OMG! SO GOOD!), their artichoke pasta salad, two bags of chips, and this little chocolate dessert that came in a box from Italy (I hope tariffs don’t make it more expensive—it’s so good).

The lamb sandwich was absolutely delicious. My eyes rolled so far back that I swear I saw my a$$ (Need to hit the gym). The spaghetti—well, let me tell you—I am not Italian, but I feel like if I had an Italian grandmother, I could taste her love in it.

The folks working behind the counter are wonderful people. They work hard and don’t have time to waste, so you better know what you’re ordering by the time they get to you—or better yet, just order ahead. I have never wanted to try every sandwich from any sandwich shop before, but this place might just add me to the growing homeless population in the Bay Area.

If you have a chance to come to Alameda, make sure you stop by. Be warned—it does get busy, and like I said, parking is limited. I chose to visit after the lunch rush and ordered ahead.

I just want to thank the wonderful people at Dominico’s for their excellent service and for letting me taste the passion, love, and pride in the beautifully crafted sandwiches and food they prepare.

10/10—will definitely go broke eating here again and again and again!

This is a classic sandwich shop with great customer service and amazing selection. Bought 5 different sandwiches and all were awesome! Tiramisu and connoli were great too! Will be back, thank you!!

Delicious sandwiches with quality ingredients, prepared efficiently by friendly staff.

Really enjoyed the balance of flavor and texture in my toasted pastrami sandwich (with marbled rye, Swiss cheese, all toppings). The pastrami was tender and well seasoned, and not too salty.

We also tried the Italian beef on a French roll. Very tasty, and the roll was perfect for soaking up the au jus.

Customer service was excellent and the roasted lamb sandwich was one of the best deli sandwiches I’ve ever had in my life.

But I grew up going to sunset in SF For freshly made peroshki’s. What I got here tasted like refrigerated peroshki heated in a microwave. At least use an air fryer to heat them. Sooo disappointing. Either take them off the menu or do them right. The peroshki are worthy of one star because of what microwaving does to the fried doughs texture.

This deli has been in my radar for some time, so when I had a craving for a sandwich I knew I had to take a drive over to Alameda.
This is a very cool deli with great customer service.
I ordered the Cajun turkey on a French roll and it was simple yet extremely delicious.
I really wanted to order a slice of their Tiramisu but the line has got too long, so now I have another reason to return very soon!
